    ROCCAT Kone XTD reviews

Kone XTD Max Customization Gaming Mouse is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A dream for big-handed gamers! I'm a 5+ hour a day gamer (not a young kid either) who demands a comfortable, high quality pointing device for my gaming. Having owned and loved a variety of Logitech, Saitek (MadCatz), Razer and other gaming-specific mice over the years, the bar was set fairly high for this product. Based on solid reviews on line, I ordered from my favorite toy store (B&H!) and received the mouse within a few days. GOOD: the mouse is ergonomically perfect for me! I have bigger hands (6' and hefty) and it is wide enough and deep enough to avoid hand cramping when I claw grip it. It is as comfortable as my fully-tuned-in R.A.T. 9 adjustable mouse - and it is of higher quality in every way, except one minor thing ... COULD IMPROVE: the sides for thumb and ring/pinky are overly slick. It's a nice, highly quality rubber, but it's very smooth. I almost returned the mouse, but decided to give it a few days to see if it would get tacky with use, and I'm pleased to say it did - I'm now keeping this mouse forever, you'll have to pry it from my dead, cold hands. The buttons all around are high quality, very well weighted (easy to press, not easy to accidentally press, very solid feedback so you don't wonder if you've pressed it). The scroll wheel is a delight - stiff enough to be exact for each scroll click, smooth enough to be executed quickly - yet precisely! - in the heat of battle. Feels extremely high quality as well. The only other minor issue is around the included weights, and it's a trifecta: 1. the cover for the weights bay is harder than it needs to be to get on and off; not a deal breaker, but an annoyance 2. The weights, once inserted, are hard to get out without bumping the mouse down to dislodge them. a fingernail ridge would be welcome! 3. the weights are located near the rear of the mouse - like a heavy mouse, but with all the weights in, it becomes essentially a hinge; I lift up and only the front of the mouse comes up, popping a wheely on my mousepad! I fixed this by adding only the three more centrally located weights, but it's a minor oversight that future designs could improve upon! VERDICT: LOVE IT. Going to buy another and put it away - I've had too many great designs leave the market just before my current one fails, and I've found a solid winner with the Kone XTD! Highly Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative to the usual. I got this to replace a Logitech mouse I have been using for several years. I was looking for something that would not be out of place on my work desk, had some personality and would offer the ability to do some customization for gaming.Value, price and quality were big considerations as my budget and time do not allow for me to be down with a bad mouse or waiting for a replacement. I also have a big hand with average length fingers so I needed a palm grip. This was a fit for all of that. The weight is good. The fit is good. The grip feels a little slick, but actually has good traction in use. I am not an intensive gamer any more, but this allows for a lot of options and I have been able to improve my play. The button placement has been really good to make all of them accessible, but without accidental button pushes. The button assignments are a little quirky with the shift button for the multiple button assignments, but I contacted tech support about that and another profile issue I had. They were responsive (being 1/2 the world away), personable and knowledgable. The responses were not form responses telling me to use their knowledge base or forums. They answered the questions I asked and gave me the information I needed without a lot of bull.Good purchase for a mouse that doesn't look like an alien spaceship but has the performance I need.
