The Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT Essential Accessory Kit from B&H combines the high-performance Speedlite 600EX-RT flash unit with a bounce dome diffuser for softer, more flattering light emission, and a rapid charger with 4 NiMH rechargeable AA batteries to keep you always at the ready to get the most from your Speedlite.

The Speedlite 600EX-RT features a wireless multiple flash system using radio wave communication that provides precise control over as many as five groups or fifteen individual flashes at a distance of up to 98.4'. Communicating on 2.4 GHz frequency, it will not be interrupted by physical barriers. It is also very powerful, with a guide number of 197' (60 m) at ISO 100 and a zoom flash head that covers a 20-200mm range. It provides full swivel movement of 180° in both directions. Compatible with the AF frame of all EOS cameras, the Speedlite 600EX-RT even works perfectly with the 61-Point High Density Reticular AF found in the EOS-1D X and the EOS 5D Mark III. It supports all current versions of TTL, including evaluative E-TTL II.

A dot matrix LCD panel and backlit button provide easy visibility, and flash functions can be controlled via the camera's menu. A metal hot-shoe and a dust and water-resistant body allow it to be used in adverse conditions, and the included color filter holder and two orange color filters multiply your creative options.

Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT

Complete with built-in radio transmission wireless functionality, the Speedlite 600EX-RT sits at the top of Canon's on-camera E-TTL / E-TTL II compatible flash lineup with a powerful guide number of 197' at ISO 100 and 200mm. This two-way 2.4 GHz radio system provides added reliability and a range up to 98.4' among up to 5 groups with a total of 15 individual Speedlites. This system also does not need direct line-of-site like traditional optical-based transmission and will work through obstacles.

For added coverage and functionality, the flash's zoom head can reach from 20-200mm, with the option for wide 14mm coverage when the built-in diffusion panel is used. Also, the unit can tilt from -7 to +90° and rotate 180° either left or right for complete bounce capabilities. On the back of the 600EX-RT is a backlit dot-matrix LCD panel that displays the status and allows users to easily access and change settings. Additionally, the flash is durable with a redesigned contact construction and improved dust and water resistant sealing.

Other capabilities of the 600EX-RT include a stroboscopic mode as well as high-speed, first and second curtain sync settings for more control over your image's final look. The flash is powered by 4 AA batteries which provide a recycle time of 0.1-5.5 seconds, though it does have a port for an optional external power pack. It comes with a color filter holder with case, a light orange filter, a dark orange filter, a mini stand, and a Speedlite case.

Can you use this flash synchronized at speeds of over !/250 ?, say 1/2000?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, however, the high speed flash sync capability is dependent on the camera model being used with the flash.

Will the Speedlite 600EX-RT be fully compatible with the Canon T3i and 70D cameras, and connected with radio triggers it will work together with a Canon 430EX II speddlite both off camera, but controlled from the camera's menu?Thank you
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, the Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite Flash is fully compatible with both the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T3i and EOS 70D DSLR cameras. As the Canon 430EX II Speedlite does not have Canon's radio technology built into the flash, it is not compatible with the radio transmitter built into the Canon 600EX-RT. You can use third-party radio transmitters/transceivers/receivers with both the Canon 600EX-RT and 430EX II cameras, however, you would not control the flashes from the camera's internal menu (the internal menu is only compatible when using Canon equipment and connected to the hot shoe of the camera). You would set all the settings manually on the flash itself and on the radio transceivers/receivers connected to the flash.

I want to buy the 600EXRT and STE3RT for my canon 60d. I have been reading articles and watching videos and several times it was stated that the feature of the speedlight/radio trans that sends ETTL II info from camera to off-camera 600EXRT actually DOES NOT work with cameras older than 2012. If i bought this and it doesnt send this info then it really wouldnt be any different than my 580EX. So please could you tell me if ALL features including ETTL transmitting is compatible with my 60d? Because I cannot remember if its older than 2012

Unfortunately, your 60D will not work, as it does not feature a compatible 3-pin connection type. For models introduced before the launch of the Speedlite 600EX-RT, such as the EOS 7D, 5D Mark II and so on, youll need to connect the optional Canon Speedlite Release Cable SR-N3. One end of the SR-N3 cord plugs into a single-pin socket on the upper-left side of the 600EX-RT or ST-E3-RT. The opposite end is a standard 3-pin N3 type remote control connector, which plugs into the remote control socket of mid-range and high-end EOS SLR cameras. Please note that all EOS Rebel models to date, as well as the EOS 60D, use a different single-pin remote control socket on the camera body and are not compatible with the SR-N3 cord. Because Canon doesnt (as of mid-2013) market a compatible adapter or connecting cord this means that Remote Release and Linked Shooting are not compatible with these cameras, unfortunately. However, any older EOS SLR model with the 3-pin N3 remote control socket can use the new radio-controlled Speedlite system for either remote firing method, via the optional SR-N3 cord. You can read the full write up at Canon DLC: will be a list of compatible models. At present, there is not a single-pin remote cable being made.

Hello, I am interested in purchasing this Speedlite 600EX-RT Essential Two Flash Wireless Kit. I currently own the Canon 5D III and Speedlite 580EX II. I understand the Canon Transmitter ST-E3-RT will only trigger the 600EX-RT and not the 580EX II, but can I set one of the 600EX-RT to master and slave the 580EX II and trigger the 580EX II as well as slave the other 600EX-RT? Will it work with that configuration? I want to use the 580EX II with this kit. Is there any configuration setup using this kit that will trigger the 580EX II? I do not want the 600EX-RT mounted on the camera. Thanks
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, the 600EX-RT can only act as a master when it is on camera. There would be no way to use it as a master to trigger the 580EX II when the 600EX-RT is off camera. The only way to use the 580EX II with this kit, would be if you didnt use the ST-E3-RT and instead had a 600EX-RT on camera; or purchased the ST-E2 to trigger all three flashes.

Does the Canon 600EX-RT come with a battery and charger?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Canon 600EX-RT does not come with batteries or a charger, as this flash runs off of four AA alkaline, lithium, or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. A great option for this battery type that will last a considerable amount of time are the Panasonic Eneloop Rechargeable AA Ni-MH Batteries with Charger:

Does the ZOOM feature calibrate to the 1.6 Crop factor, when zooming a EF-S lens on an APS-C Camera? IE does 18MM on the 18-135 Kit lens, show 28.8?Thanks
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, the flash recognizes the sensor size in the camera and automatically adjusts the optimum flash coverage for the effective focal length of the lens in a range of 20-200mm.
