Sirui N-2004KX Overview

The Sirui N-2004X Aluminum Tripod is a great tripod for anyone who needs to pack light and reserve the option to, at a moment's notice, slim down their camera's support system to just a monopod. The N-2004X features a leg that unscrews and attaches to a second included mounting plate to form a monopod. And, differing from the N-2004 model, the N-2004X features a split center column for a fast and easy transition to low-angle shooting.

Reaching a maximum height of 65", the tripod itself is quite versatile in its own right – the N-2004X weighs just 4.0 lb but supports up to 33.1 lb thanks to its thick leg sections (only 3mm difference in diameter of each leg section) and forged aluminum alloy construction. It's suitable for use with just about any head and any 35mm camera, DSLR, point & shoot, or camcorder.

The N-2004X tripod's legs fold upward 180° to achieve a relatively compact folded length of 18.1" – even with select head models attached. The entire package will fit comfortably in most carry-on bags and many backpacks. A custom case with padded handle is included.

The tripod's center column is reversible, and the N-2004X comes with a short center column so that you can set up extremely close to the ground for ultra-low-angle shooting. With the center column split and the long section removed, you can set the legs at their widest angle (80°) and shoot from only 6.7" off the ground.

The tripod converts easily into a monopod.
A new split center column allows for faster and easier transition to low-angle shooting.
Forged aluminum alloy results in stronger components than the traditional casting process that's often used for tripod chassis. Forging leads to more compacted metal and enhances the integrity of metal grains so they remain consistent and continuous. This leads to a longer product life and better performance.
An anodizing surface treatment, produced by an electrolytic oxidation process to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts, is applied to increase corrosion & wear resistance and surface hardness, and to enhance color durability.
3mm diameter difference between each successive leg section for greater overall stability.
Silicone twist locks for leg stages and anti-leg rotation system for faster, one-handed set-up.
Automatic leg-angle lock mechanism for speed and convenience – independently lock legs into place at three different angles: 23°, 52° & 80°.
Short center column allows the tripod to reach extremely low positions – minimum height of 6.7".
An additional mounting plate attaches to the unscrewed monopod leg to mount a camera. A wrist strap is included for security in case the operator's grip slips.
Leg warmer/padding facilitate handling in extreme weather conditions and adds level of protection.
Center column hook allows you to add a ballast for a sturdier setup in windy conditions
Reversible 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 screw on mounting plate enables the attachment of virtually any camera, camcorder, or head.
Well-designed padded travel bag with sturdy shoulder strap for carrying is included.

question

Two years ago, I got a Sunpak tripod from B&H and almost immediately, the ball-head broke. The service guys told me to contact the warranty division of Sunpak, but all I got was an answering machine. They never called me back even after several messages. Now the whole tripod broke; junk! How well does Sirui stand behind their products if you have a problem?
Asked by: Bill
With a 6 year warranty if defective.

I plan on using the vanguard Alta BH-250 with these legs and I'm wondering how my D600 and nikkor 200-500mm Will fare on it? I assuming pretty good?
Asked by: Brian M.
The Vanguard Alta BH-250 has a capacity of 44 lbs. The Sirui N-2004X has a capacity of 33lbs. The Nikon D600 weighs 1.89 lbs. The NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens weighs 4.60 lbs for a total 6.49 lbs. I would say you are good.

question

Is it possible to use the monopod leg with one of those 3 legged monopod base like the Benro 3-Leg Locking Base For Monopods ?
Asked by: Matteo P.
No, it is not possible to use the Sirui monopod foot on the Benro base because the Sirui leg does not have a 3/8 screw protruding from the bottom.

question

I assumed there is a short column included seeing how many of the similar tripods have one included, but there isn't one in the box. Is there a short column available for this tripod?
Asked by: mark
Hi Mark; The center column type is of a split kind, what that means is the center column in your tripod splits in two in order to have a shorter column, all you need to do is to unscrewed the column, and there you have it, hope this helps.

question

To clarify, how well does this tripod hold up with 23 or 31 slider with use of DSLR for filmmaking?
Asked by: Maggie W.
The Sirui N-2004X has a load of 33.1 lbs which is probably twice what you need for this rig. However, when you moe the slider towards the side where the leg is it will be stable but going to the other side the weight could tip it. I suggest hanging a heavy weight from the center column to stabilize the rig when you are at the end of the slider. This would be true with all tripods

question

Was Wondering the diameter of the entire tripod when the legs are folded closed. I am trying to see if it will fit in the round drink holder on my pack.
Asked by: Anonymous
We measured the circumference of the Sirui N-2004X and it is about 12.5 inches. The diameter would be about 4 inches.

question

Considering this tripod but why no reviews on here? Plenty of other Sirui models have been reviews on here. New item? Thank you.
Asked by: Anonymous
The tripod is less than a year old and most of the tripod systems we sell are kits with heads. That may explain why there aren't a ny reviews. Sirui tripods are very well made and constructed and are highly recommended.
