The Adapter for Hasselblad V Lens to Sony NEX Mount Camera from FotodioX allows a Hasselblad V lens to attach to a Sony NEX camera body, including full frame NEX. Adapting a larger format lens to a smaller format sensor provides optical as well as practical advantages. The smaller image field helps minimize the effects of lens distortion and aberration by using the center or "sweet spot" of the larger lens' image circle, thus providing edge-to-edge sharpness.

At Last, a Simple Adapter!

I have long wanted to test my Hasselblad V lenses on a Sony A7Riii, but was put off by the need to stack two adapters. This relatively inexpensive, one-piece adaptor provided that opportunity. My early observations is that Hasselblad lenses are nearly as good as Zeiss lenses dedicated to the Sony. They are also twice as large and heavy, and no shorter than 40 mm. They also have nearly twice the image circle. Since only the center of the FOV is used, vignetting is negligible. Where Hasselblad lenses would shine is with a similar Fotodiox adapter with tilt and shift capability. From what I learned with the simpler version, the tilt/shift adapter would not be wasted.

Very good adapter

It works very well. But as in some other reviews, the release latch for take up lens is quite close to the focus ring and easy to bump when racking focus.. Care must be taken, but it works really well

Well made, fit to lens a little loose

I purchased this adapter to use my Hasselblad lenses with the Sony A6500. The adapter is well made, aluminum and chrome plated steel. The Hasselblad lens fit is not as tight as one would like. The image results are very good though.

yes I would buy this again

Great adapter, now I can use some great manual Hasselblad glass on my sony A7Sii or my A6500, it works very well!

Good with one major flaw.

The general quality of the product is very good. Lens fits well and the adapter fits nicely onto the body. I'm using it on an A7RII. The tripod mount is stiffer than some of the other Fotodiox adapters which is good. The big problem which I think was mentioned in another review is that the release mechanism for the lens is right where you tend to hold the lens for focusing and taking photos. It protrudes from the adapter in just the wrong place and is very easy to push in while handling the camera. With Hasselblad lenses it takes very twisting action to release the lens from the mount so the likelihood of inadvertently releasing the lens and having it fall off is very high. So much so that I'm afraid to use the adapter until I modify it to make it harder to accidentally release the lens. I'm considering making a small half-circular raised piece to attached adjacent to the protruding release tab. This would be slightly larger than the tab and would prevent the tab from being pushed down while holding the lens/adapter. It would then require a more deliberate activation of the release. With this modification I would be happy with the adapter. Between the flimsy tripod mounts on some their other adapters (not this one) and issues like the release mechanism on this adapter, I'm led to believe that the designers of these products don't actually use them. They do seem to be getting better over time but the designers need to give more thought to how the products will be used. If this problem were to be resolved I would give it 5 stars.

Perfect!

Works great. Mounts easily to camera and lenses, and built-in tripod socket is very helpful when using 250mm and 350mm lenses. Image quality is exceptional, due to using just the central portion of the lens image area.

question

I watched the webcast on the Sony A7/r today. I have some old hasselblad glass for 500 (with shutters) and 200 series cameras. We're any of these V lenses? Will this adapter work with the sony A7R? Thanks.
Asked by: Anonymous
You can use the FotodioX Adapter for Hasselblad V Lens to Sony NEX Camera to mount your lenses from both the 500 and 200 cameras onto the a7/R. The 500, 200, and 2000 cameras are all considered part of Hasselblads V system, and share the same mount and register.

question

What is a V series lens. I have old C series lenses with shutters, and one lens for the 200 series without a shutter. Are any of these V lenses? Adapter for Hasselblad V Lens to Sony NEX Mount Camera by FotodioX. Also, is this the same adaptor for the new e series sony?
Asked by: Anonymous
The 500, 200, and 2000 cameras are all considered part of Hasselblads V system, and share the same physical mount and register. So you could use both your C series lenses with shutters, and your shutterless F or FE lenses with this adapter. An advantage of the F and FE lenses will be since they lack a shutter you will not need to open the shutter blades to photograph like you will with the C series lenses. This adapter will be compatible with every Sony E mount camera, including the new Sony full frame mirrorless cameras (a7/a7R).

question

I bought this adapter. It came without any instructions about how to mount the Hasselblad lenses. The mounting of Hasselblad lenses to Hasselblad cameras must be done in a certain way. They must be cocked before removing them and so forth, or a jam can occur. So what is the order of mounting and how does it behave with the Sony camera? I do not wish to jam the lens and or camera and some directions for using this are really needed. In the absence of instructions, I may need to return it.Thank you.
Asked by: Anonymous
A Hasselblad lens (with a leaf shutter) cannot be safely removed or reattached without being cocked . In this state, the leaf shutter is open for focusing or in this case photographing on a mirrorless camera. While the adapter does not require the shutter being cocked, you will need it in this state to shoot with and remount back onto a Hasselblad body without risking jamming. Use of this adapter will not trip the shutter on the Hasselblad lens as you are using the shutter in-camera to make an exposure.

Will this adapter work with Hasselblad Distagon 1:4 f=50mm & 1:5.6 f=250mm Lenses? Thanks
Asked by: Anonymous
This adapter will not work with Distagon lenses, which are Hasselblad C mount. This adapter is designed for use with Hasselblad V lenses.

question

I have the 50 ,80 and 150 FE lenses, I understand that they fit, I have to focus, does the camera auto set the lens aperture in Aperture priority mode or do I stop the lens down before shooting?
Asked by: Anonymous
First you have to put the camera in Manual Mode. Then you select the aperture, open the lens manually in order to focus and then you stop down to the selected aperture for your depth of field intended for your image. Once you've selected the aperture then you move the speed dial until you have the right exposure for your image. I have this adapter for the Sony A7R and I'm very satisfied with the results of using the Hasselblad lenses with the Sony sensor. I have an 80 and a 120 and both works perfectly. Remember that you are using a full frame 35mm sensor, I use the lens stop down to f/5.6 or f/8 just to have a beautiful bokeh and the out of focus area is very smooth. The 80mm and the 120mm are small telephoto because you are using a 35mm full frame format. So, your 50mm lens will work as a normal lens on such a 35mm format and not as a wide angle in the 120 format. It is very pleasing to use older Hasselblad lenses and Leica lenses with the Sony sensor, the sharpness and the optical beauty of the subtle gradations of the bokeh is insuperable. Enjoy you photography.

question

Hello , is for sony a7III connect lens hasselblad cf ?
Asked by: Anonymous
Hi there. Yes it is. Just be careful as the release switch is in the same spot that you rest your hand to adjust focus. I actually dropped my lens off a roof and onto a pebbles because I released it as I was adjusting my focus. Luckily only minor damage to the casing of the lens but could have been much worse. Its very affective, though, so recommend it.
