Does "Maintains infinity focus " means the infinity lock functionality is retained - I have an M3 and I just purchased a screw mount Elmar 50mm that I believe needs this adaptor to work.

Does this adapter allow the M39 lens to engage the rangefinder mechanism of a M mount Bessa?
It does work with full rangefinder coupling and focusing on my Leica M (both digital and film), so I suspect it should work on your M mount Bessa as well. Currently I use a Canon 35mm f/2 LTM (Leica Thread Mount AKA M39) with adapter on a M240 and focus is dead-on accurate (checked against Live View).
