The DEV-1000 Camera Slider from Glide Gear allows you to slide your DSLR or video camera while shooting video. It is 23.6" in length, made from anodized aluminum, and has a weight capacity of 19.8 lb. Its self-lubricating rails and plastic bearings are designed to provide a quieter slider than those with metal bearings. A built-in bubble level allows you to straighten your slider to the horizon. The rubber tipped feet allow you to use the slider as a standalone unit and can be removed when mounting the slider on a tripod. You can adjust the tension of the slider or lock it in place by using the turning screw knob on the trolley.

Two 1/4"-20 and two 3/8"-16 holes on the base allow you to mount the slider to most tripods. A reversible thread on the trolley will take most tripod heads, allowing you to easily mount your camera to the slider.

Removable rubber tipped feet provide traction on smooth surfaces
4 non-threaded holes on the slider base allow you to mount the slider on two light stands or add DIY attachments like a strap, a microphone, or battery pack

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good starter piece Got this slider as a starter piece of equipment and one I can take into the high country and on the river. Don't bother making your own! If you would rather spend your time shooting video rather than making 3 trips to the hardware store just buy this one. It is not the Professional grade but you can get the same shot with a little practice. (there is a tiny bit of 'slop' The one thing you can't do is take the slider off the track without removing the feeton the flip side it is nice to have the feet as camera stops so you don't run the camera off of the track. I am currently looking for a head to leave on the slider so I can use a quick release.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Slider! I love my slider, and for the price it makes me love the DEV1000 even more. The main pro for me is the fact that the DEV1000 is portable, light weight, and self lubricating. The con is the fact that the threading is in the middle of the slider, which means I can only attach the slider to a tripod in the center. Thus, my Canon 6D bends the slider slightly when I get to the ends on the DEV1000. This can be solved by attaching another tripod to one of the ends. However, the DEV1000 doesn't have the threads to make this a quick process, so I detach the fluid head from an additional tripod and use a butterfly bolt to secure the slider. Sounds like a lot, but for the price one has to make it work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very pleased glides smooth with DSLR. Can stand on ground or tripod mount which is a threaded hole just off from dead-center. Locking screw to keep from moving when you want it fixed, also serves as tensioner. when the legs are installed they keep the dolly from running all the way off the edge. Glad I didn't waste tim trying to make one, doubt it would have been this good and definitely not as lightweight and compact.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful slider for the price! I use the slider for home videos and for school projects. Over the past month I have had it, it has been wonderful. Having the ability to attach it to my tripod has been great. That ability makes it very easy to get otherwise difficult cinematic shots. I have had fun playing with the possibilities and building my technique. Especially for the price, I would undoubtedly recommend this to anyone who wants to improve the cinematography without spending a huge chunk of cash. For the most part, it slides very easily. However, if you put a certain amount of torque on it, it will catch on the edge. I have only encountered this however when I screw my tripod head to the top and tray panning with the head while sliding. This causes the slider to get tripped up sometimes. But this doesn't ruin your shoot. In fact all I had to do was place a firm hand on the sliding component it self and redirect it's motion. One definite con is it is hard to screw you camera on without a tripod head. This slider is very versatile. Very easy to set up, it literally took me 5 minutes. And it even comes with a cell phone holster with a -20 for anyone who uses their smart phone for videography. Everything was well packaged from B and H and came working and simple to set up. Before spending $+ dollars on higher end equipment, examine your needs and determine whether it is worth paying much much more than you would from this great little company. I have absolutely no affiliation with Glide Gear, I just truly love their products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I've been using this for just a couple of days and in this time period, it's been working really well. I added the pros to the list below however the cons were longer so I put them right here Cons - A little wobbly on the tripod at times - If the camera is tilted down, the sliding piece leans forwards and isn't very smooth - When I use a camera, lens, microphone and light on it, it gets a bit less smooth with all the weight

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Device I was looking for a slider to make my videos look more professional and this exactly solved that. Very easy to use. Smooth like butter. Makes my shots look like hollywood movies! Great build quality. The only thing that I didn't like about it is the feet had to be screwed on every time I used it on a tripod. Lets just say the feet helped secured the camera from falling off by accident. I would recommend a pan/tilt head to avoid screwing in and out the feet, and if you want more flexibility with your shots. Overall great deal especially the price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the price This is really cheap for a slider and you can tell from some small issues that may come up. For example, the sliding part tends to get stuck if it sits to far forwards (i.e. with a heavy lens) but if you just push it downwards on the back, this won't happen. It also feels very strong, but that makes it pretty heavy. However, that's better than being light, because it would probably be a cheap material. It is just enough distance to get pretty much any shots I need, whether it's something close up or far away. Other than that, it takes some testing and practicing to get a consistent slide, and might take a few attempts to get the shot you want. But I would definitely recommend if you have a low budget, as I've used it for almost a year and will keep using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love at first slide! Just learning new techniques and this slider is a huge boost. It is amazing how such a simple device can make things look so much more professional. It was ready to use in seconds and works like a charm. I defintely would recommend this product.
