Icon Pro Audio iKeyboard 6 reviews

iKeyboard 6 61-Key MIDI Controller is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Awesome build quality but bad dynamic. It could have been a really great controller but the velocity curves are really bad imo. Playing normally will produce a velocity value of 110-127 unfortunately (and i've tried every velocity curves). If you dont care about dynamic this is a really great controller made of metal and feel like a quality product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Was unsure, but so glad I bought it! This is exactly what I had been looking for. I wasn't able to find many reviews, so I took the chance and got it. This is exactly what I wanted. It feels wonderful, it is portable, has a very nice build quality and functions perfectly with the software. it functions flawlessly with logic Pro X and has been a joy to use live with mainstage. The keys have a great feel and response. It's perfect in every way along side my nano kontrol. Don't hesitate to buy this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good job on the hardware; a no-show on the software. It's a shame. The keyboard itself has a very nice feel. Good job on the hardware; a no-show on the software. I'm putting my iKeyboard 6 on eBay today. I bought it about two years ago, and had numerous problems. These were complicated by multiple downloads available from multiple sites, and version numbers out of sequence (A version 2.01 that actually preceded 1.02). Still 2 years later the software is mysterious; multiple screen components with no tool tips, no up to date documentation describing their functionality, and little to no support organization behind it. They've now shut down their US support organization where there was guy Rob who knew the product and was as helpful as could be, but he's now unreachable (support being picked up by Mixware, a distributor not the designer or manufacturer). The current bugaboo I've run into is purchase of an expression pedal to use the keyboard to drive Hollywood Strings. Plugged it in, and 1 the controller/software only sends the values 0 and 127, and 2 they're backwards. E.g., sends 0 at max pedal, 127 and min. No place in the software to configure. The pedal plugged directly into a Roland JV-80 and Avid/Digidesign 003 performs as it should (the continuum of expression values from 0 thru 127).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yes I like this! It is built well ... nice action on the keyboard ( not piano weight but nice ). Powers over USB ... and drives my DAW ( Cubase ) using Mackie Control which is very solid. No messing around, not complicated. It just works. As it will with most other DAWs except ProTools ... lol. Software for a computer allows customizing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Whoa - pro quality key action This is a review for the 61 key iKeyboard 6 MIDI controller. I'm a conservatory trained professional pianist with no connection to Icon or any other vendors. It's been hard to find a light MIDI board with 61 full size keys and pro quality key feel. Roland A800Pro? Small keys (why oh why?) and shallow key travel in a plastic case. Novation 61SL Mk II? Better keys but I've never liked the feel of their velocity curves (black/white key sensitivities are different). Roland RD64 or StudioLogic VMK 161? Full size keys with hammer action and nice even velocity curves, but both weigh more than 88 key Yamahas and Casios that also have hammer action and cost less. Nord Electro 4D SW61? Probably the best option until now, but expensive and its onboard piano sounds can't match laptop VI's like Synthogy Ivory American D and others. That's all changed now with the Icon. I learned about it in a Musikmesse 2013 youtube video where Icon said this replaces the Neuron with a newly designed keybed and smaller form factor. I ordered one to give it a try, and what a surprise. The full size keys and default velocity curve feel great, even better than the Novation and Nord which both use Fatar TP-9 keybeds but their own velocity curves. The Icon has a rugged metal case, impressive build quality and outstanding customer service when I asked a few questions about setup. Compared to the Nord, it's 6 pounds lighter and one-tenth the price. By design it has a minimal set of DAW controls and if you want more, you may want to try their Logicon 6 Air instead. For my needs, this is everything I want and I sold my other 61 key controllers. That good. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great keyboard Used in Studio for composing. Great key bed, velocity much better than M-audio equivalent. Better build as well. Only issue : the Mod ribbon defaults to zero when released, problematic when wanting to say, stay on a given velocity if using libraries set up as such.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional The keyboard looks good and works as intended, I think. Part of the outer casing was broken or chipped. The shipping box was fine so it was probably returned or damaged at the warehouse. Wish they had taken better care of it or had better quality control.
