The 10mm Q1921-E Wide Outdoor Thermal Network Camera from Axis Communications is a suitable complement to any network video system that needs to secure an area 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Camera uses thermal imaging, which allows users to detect people, objects, and incidents in complete darkness and difficult conditions such as smoke, haze, dust, and light fog.
The Q1921-E Camera is an out-of-the-box, outdoor-ready model with a built-in window heater that is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions. A resolution of 384 x 288 and a range of lenses make it possible to optimize detection performance to meet most application requirements.
Advanced software processing and a frame rate of up to 8.3fps will further improve the thermal image quality. This thermal camera is less sensitive to problems with light conditions and shadows, thus achieving high accuracy in most intelligent video applications.
The Camera offers motion detection, audio detection. It also provides capacity for third-party analytics modules, including support for AXIS Camera Application Platform. It supports ONVIF for interoperability between network video products. The installation is made easy with Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af). It also supports H.264 video compression, which reduces bandwidth usage and storage needs. This camera provides multiple, individually configurable video streams in H.264 and motion JPEG.
Note: This product includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit. (http://www.openssl.org)

For Demanding Outdoor Video Surveillance
It is an out-of-the-box, outdoor-ready thermal network camera that is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions. It comes with a built-in heater for the window. It is suitable for efficient 24/7 area or perimeter surveillance of all security applications such as roads, tunnels, and airports.
Key IP-Surveillance Features
It supports H.264 video compression, which reduces bandwidth usage and storage needs compared to motion JPEG. The Camera provides multiple, individually configurable video streams in H.264 and motion JPEG. Each stream can have its own color palette setting. It has 2-way audio support, which allows the user to communicate with visitors and intruders.
Wide Detection Range
With a resolution of 384 x 288p and multiple lens alternatives, the camera can optimize detection performance to meet most application requirements.
Power over Ethernet for Easy Installation
Installation is made easy with Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af), which eliminates the need for power cables.
Intelligent Video Capabilities
This thermal camera is immune to problems with light conditions and normal shadows, thus achieving high accuracy in most intelligent video applications. It offers motion detection, audio detection, and detection of tampering attempts.
The Camera also provides capacity for third-party analytics modules, including support for AXIS Camera Application Platform. It supports ONVIF for interoperability between network video products.
Johnson’s criteria assume suitable conditions. The weather conditions at site will affect the thermal energy emitted from the object and decrease the effective detection range. The detection range in the tables above suitably requires a temperature difference of 35.6°F (2°C) between the targeted object and the background.
However, the weather conditions such as rain, snow, and fog will attenuate the radiated energy from the object since the heat radiation from the object is scattered when it hits particles in the air.
To avoid performance and reliability problems, always test the camera in the actual environment where it needs to be used.
Integration of Intelligent Applications
The sensor in this thermal camera reacts to differences in thermal energy. Thus, the sensor is less sensitive to changing light conditions, darkness, and other challenging conditions. This makes it a suitable platform to integrate intelligent video applications to build more efficient 24/7 surveillance systems. The Application Development Partner Program Axis can offer a wide range of third-party applications available.
Integrated with intelligent video applications such as video motion detection or tripwire, the camera can automatically trigger an alert to the operator. To maximize performance of the application and safeguard reliable operation, 6p across the object is recommended and the surrounding environment always needs to be considered.
