The angled viewing Razor HD 11-33x50 Spotting Scope from Vortex features high-quality glass with specialized optical coatings to provide clear and bright images. The triplet apochromatic lens elements are made of High Density (HD) Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass to increase light transmission, minimize distortion and virtually eliminate chromatic aberration. All air-to-glass surfaces have Vortex's XR anti-reflective coatings to minimize light loss. Additionally, they are ArmorTek coated for scratch resistance. To ensure accurate color across the entire visible spectrum, the Porro prisms are dielectric coated. These coatings are highly reflective and lose less than 1% of the light that passes through them. The use of Porro prisms creates a better depth of view over roof prisms. This combination of coatings and optics creates a spotting scope that produces bright, clear, highly contrasted images with accurate color transmission.

The lightweight magnesium-alloy body is o-ring sealed and argon-filled to be water and fogproof. A dual focus system features a coarse fast-focus and a fine-focus wheel. The scope has a tripod mounting shoe that also accepts a 1/4"-20 mounting bolt. A retractable lens shade keeps the Sun or rain off the objective lens.

Razor HD 11-33x50 Spotting Scope (Angled Viewing) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Compact Scope for Birding I tried about a dozen scopes in person at a birding event this past spring. I was unimpressed with scopes in the price range of this Vortex with the exception of the Nikon Fieldscope ED 50. Both the Vortex and the Nikon are compact, lower magnification travel scopes. Basically, they are the small versions of more expensive full-sized scopes (i.e. 20-60x mag and 60 or 80mm objective). My experience was that any full-sized scope in the price range of this Vortex was noticeably less sharp than the Vortex and rather fuzzy at the magnification levels above the reach of the Vortex. I decided I would rather have a smaller scope that performs well throughout its whole zoom range than a larger scope that is unsatisfying at high power. I chose the Vortex over the Nikon (a brand I trust) because of a slightly better price and because other birding websites have given the nod to this scope. I think either choice would be fine. Having traveled and hiked with this scope, I am so glad I made that choice. This scope is exceptionally sharp and bright, and its size means I don't think twice about bringing it with me. It has significantly increased my enjoyment of birding shorebirds and waterfowl. The lifetime no-fault warranty is an incredible benefit I hope I never have to redeem. I will say I was a little bothered by the lack of paperwork included in the box, though. There's no warranty paper with a printed serial number on it like I have with my Nikon gear. Perhaps Vortex is less concerned with this, but for me it's always a comfort to have good paperwork behind valuable items.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Spotter Purchased this for it's light weight, small footprint and positive reviews. Could easily throw it in a backpack. I was amazed at the quality of image. It is a bright, clear, detailed image with great resolution and depth of field...making panning easy. The course and fine focus works perfectly. It is much better in low light than I anticipated. Compared to 3 other scopes, I don't believe it gets a full 33x power magnification...but close enough considering the superb image it delivers. If you need a great little spotter to bring with on the hunt versus leave in the truck...get this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Travel Scope Bought this scope to use as both a home and travel scope. Optics are crystal clear, small size and build quality make it perfect to throw in the car or pack so it is pretty much always in the right place for viewing whales, eagles etc in our travels. I am very please with this scope, but would also consider it's big brother, the HD 15-45x65, which is also pretty light and portable and by design better for poor light, night viewing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great Vortex product! Great optics, easy to pack. This scope comes with a great soft cover. Best warranty in the business is also a plus! Vortex backs these for life!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this scope! Amazing clarity for a small scope. Eyepiece is larger than other small scopes I've used.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Razor HD 11-33x50 Spotting Scope (Angled Viewing) I plan to use this scope for spotting mule deer and black bears while backpacking. The first time out was a clear bright day. The scope was clear all the way up to 33 power, it was very easy to focus and has a FOV almost as wide and my 10x42 Stieners. My thinking is that the disadvantage of only 33 power will be offset by the packability

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Excellent optics but defective focus knob The scope has excellent optics. However, the first day I used it in the field, the focus knob assembly failed. It became loose in its socket and focus could not be achieved. VIP Warranty says they will take care of it but I would obviously have preferred a better product rather than a good warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, lightweight, clear glass. A permanent fixture in my hunting pack. For hunting mountainous country I believe this little spotter is a must have. Has given me the ability to spot bedded animals and size up animals out past 1000yds. Small and light enough to carry hunting, even if you're weight conscious about your gear. Pairs well with the high country tripod. Glass is very clear, focus and magnification work smoothly. I use binos on the tripod and switch to this spotter when I want more magnification. The quick release plate makes swapping optics quick.
