The GS70 2OD-001US 17.3" Gaming Notebook Computer from MSI measures in at less than 0.86" thick and weighs only about 6 pounds, which is impressive for a fully-loaded 17.3" notebook computer. Inspired by the F22 Raptor stealth fighter, the MSI GS70 features a simple yet streamlined brushed aluminum chassis with a gray finish.
The 17.3" widescreen display features LED backlighting, which uses less power than their CCFL backlighting. The screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a Full HD 1920 x 1080 native resolution powered by a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M graphics card with 2GB of discrete memory. The display can play Full HD 1080p content natively without upscaling. The screen also has an anti-reflective finish, which reduces glare in brightly lit environments.
The system is powered by a 4th generation Haswell quad-core 2.4GHz Intel Core i7-4700HQ processor. It also has 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L RAM, a 750GB 7200rpm hard drive and a 128GB solid state drive, a multi-format media card reader, 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an integrated webcam and microphone. There are also built-in stereo speakers and a subwoofer, which utilize Sound Blaster Cinema technology.
Windows 8 is the installed operating system. Windows 8 replaces the traditional Start menu with a redesigned Start screen. The Start screen features tiles that update in real-time, which provide faster access to news, weather forecasts, sports scores, social network updates and more. Windows 8 also focuses more on cloud storage as well as apps, which can be downloaded from the Windows Store. Windows 8 provides a unique user experience.
