  • 1Description

The Manfrotto MVH502A Fluid Head and MVT502AM Tripod with Carrying Bag is a lightweight tripod system designed for use with camcorders and HDSLR cameras. The system features the MVH502A 75mm half ball professional video head, and the telescopic aluminum twin-tube MVT502AM tripod. A padded carrying case is included for transport and storage.

The MVH502A Pro Video Head is a professional fluid head with a 75mm half ball tripod mount. The head has a spring-loaded counterbalance system which supports up to 8.8 pounds, while the head has a payload capacity of 15.4 pounds. There are independent locks for pan and tilt, with drag continuously adjustable for both.

The MVT502AM video tripod is a lightweight 2-stage, aluminum twin-tube video tripod. It features telescopic aluminum legs for compactness and reduced weight, and its ellipse-profile tubing with redesigned leg locking collars and a mid-level spreader give it added levels of rigidity and stability. The tripod's rubber feet improve grip on all floor and ground surfaces.

Manfrotto MVK502AM-1 Reviews

MVH502A Fluid Head and MVT502AM Tripod with Carrying Bag is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tripod Second time buying this tripod. It is affordable and can properly support both dslr and professional video cameras such as RED and ARRI cameras. Counterbalance systems (with DSLRs) are supported. Overall, great tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Knob placement is strange I'm no amateur to using a tripod with a fluid head and this product is very well built, shows good quality overall. I am a bit disappointed about the placement of the tilt lock as well as the pan lock. The placement where the knobs would be on the 701 series felt more user friendly. It is difficult adjusting my pan when it is in from of my camera, as well as trying to tilt where I normally have my arm for adjustment maybe this is just how the new models work with the drag/resistance not a deal breaker but not super happy with these changes

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great I bought this for the price point, but also had extensive use of one before that. It's about as small and lightweight as you would want to get without compromising performance, so it's excellent for one-man-band and run n gun stuff. Drag on the tilt and pan work well, and those features are hard to find on anything else in this range. I use it with a Panasonic AG-AC30; for larger cameras I use an old Sachtler 18 which will handle almost anything. Biggest drawback: the tilt lock is on the right side of the head, instead of on the left where most manufacturers put them. So a little awkward to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Tripod We use this product with a couple nice cameras in a broadcast environment. The fluid heads work really well for smooth pans and tilts. One issue I would present would be that the middle of the tripod (Where the legs connect and fold for storage) are somewhat flimsy and sometimes can fold back up if bumped. We compensated this with some sandbag weights which for what we are doing sufficed. Overall, a great product!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Fluid Head but Terrible Sticks I own the flat base version of this head and love it. Nothing crazy but super smooth motions, great drag control, and gets the job done. The bowl version of this head is the exact same way. Totally reccomend. These sticks on the other hand are awful. The latching mechanism doesn't feel super secure and feels like it doesn't latch very hard. The rods are flimsy and bend pretty easily. The leg spreader if you could even call it that is a joke. No locking mechanism on it so the legs flop everywhere and aren't stable at all. They fold up super easy and can move side to side like crazy. Lastly, there is a ton of play in all the joints for the leg spreader as well. Simply nothing feels sturdy at all! Overall, it's just not a sturdy stand at all and wouldn't trust putting my gear on it. One little bump to a lug and the whole thing would fold up and collapse. Super disappointed with Manfrotto here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Choice This tripod is running and gunning all over town and so far I have no huge complaints. It is an awesome product for the price. the only thing i would critique is the resistance adjustment for the fluid head. It just seems to have some play in them unlike your higher end fluid heads. But it certainly isn't a turn off to purchasing it. Another thing is when sliding that mont plate into the slot, you have to be EXACT otherwise it gets jammed. That can be frustrating when you are trying to set up in a hurry. But thats a small detail on the grand scale of this quality item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for DSLR video! I picked up this unit because I wanted a tripod that would work well with my DSLR for video. I was specifically looking for very smooth pan and tilt operations and I have not been disappointed. This tripod is silky smooth and has an amazing range of adjustment. The only complaint I have is minor. It can be difficult to get back in the bag sometimes if it is not oriented just right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Tripod I am a freelance videographer, and use this tripod for sports, festivals, and other events. The actions is very smooth, and the tripod is very stable. The ergonomics are not perfect, as the tilt drag knob and tilt lock are on opposite sides. My only other complaint is that the bag it comes with is too small once you put the arm onto the head.
