SLR Magic SLR-2595MFT(3) Overview

  • 1Description

The SLR Magic 25mm T0.95 HyperPrime Cine III Lens is an exceptionally fast normal focal length lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras (50mm full-frame equivalent). The fast T0.95 maximum aperture lets you capture images with a shallow depth of field, while also benefiting low-light filming. Designed to support a cine-style workflow, the lens features a clickless iris for smooth iris pulls and cine-standard geared focus and aperture rings. Compared to the 49mm front filter threads found on the Cine II version, the Cine III lens features 52mm front filter threading for attaching filters or other optional accessories, such as the SLR Magic Anamorphot adapter and Achromatic Diopters. An optional lens support is recommended when using the Anamorphot, especially when using diopters.

  • Covers up to Micro Four Thirds format sensors
  • Fast T0.95 maximum aperture
  • Clickless iris for smooth exposure adjustments while shooting
  • Built-in iris and focus gears follow industry standards, allowing you to work with optional follow focus units and lens gear motors
  • Focus rotation of the lens follows the cinema standard, allowing you to swap between this and other optional lenses without having to change your workflow
  • 12-bladed iris
  • 52mm front filter threads
  • Metal construction
  • Compatible with optional SLR Magic Anamorphot adapter and Achromatic Diopters

SLR Magic SLR-2595MFT(3) Reviews

25mm T0.95 HyperPrime Cine III Lens (MFT Mount) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Cinematic I wouldn't say it's the sharpest lens out there but definitely one of the best lenses if you're looking to achieve a true cinematic feel; gives perfect balance between softness and sharpness. Only if I had the Anamorphat 1.33x or 2x adaptor I'd be jumping all day because how awesome the video production would be. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lens! The build on this lens feels solid. It has an all metal body, and the glass seems to be of great quality. The picture is really sharp at T/2.0+, and with the T/0.95 aperture setting, the picture has a little bit of softness, but not too much, it still looks pretty sharp. I actually like this lens way better than the Rokinon cine lens equivalent, and seems to be around the same price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let there be light! Got this for my GH4 to help alleviate it's low light struggles. Works like a charm. Couldn't be happier. However, I will say that actually using T0.95 should be used sparingly - if ever. When they say shallow depth of field, they really mean it, as finding perfect focus is not for the impatient. No worries though, 1.4 and beyond work wonderfully, and if you are patient enough (and absolutely need it) 0.95 can save you from even considering adjusting the ISO.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very soft. To preface, I could have gotten a bad copy. Mine was nearly unusable at 0.95, which is to be expected. Even at 1.4 or f2, it was still very soft and had a lot of CA. At that price, you might as well go for the Rokinon 24 1.4 which will be decently sharp or one of the Oly or Panny options. If you desire a soft dreamy look, I could see it potentially working for you. It was certainly not for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid. Beautiful shots. This is a seriously nice lens for the money. My ONLY regret is that I did not buy this as part of the B&H bundle with the SLR Magic 10mm T 2.1 Cine III Lens. This would have saved me the price of a nice dinner! Thanks B&H ... nice pricing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lens HYPE This lens is honeslty one of the prettiest lenses I've had to joy to use. Running a GH4 with v-log has yielded great skin tones and overall feel. It's a little heavy but it's pretty standard for a cine geared lens!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful cinematic lens for low light Incredible lens for low light and artistic cinematic looking video. And the focal length ion a mft camera is all around great for portrait type shots, as well getting wider shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for MFT. Quality images and build. Not the best investment. I worked with a local company who uses SLR Magic lenses. They seemed good enough so I went ahead and bought some. I definitely think they are good quality lenses that produce nice images. Like many have said, the lens is not sharp wide open, but that is to be expected. Stop down a little and it is a great 50mm lens for mft. Very sharp. Great for interviews. Smooth focus and aperture, what more can you ask for? I think they’re the best mft cine lenses in the price range. I haven’t used any of the new rokinons, but I did not like the color out of the older ones. Overall I think this lens is a great native lens to have. It’s just not the best investment in my option because it’s mft. The nicest camera you can put it on is a GH5. I also bought the sigma 18-35 around the same time and consider it a better investment because I can thrown it on nicer cameras. Getting EF rokinons and using an adapter is probablh a better investment, but I got the SLR Magic’s on sale and used so I think I’ll hold on to them.

How many degrees is the focus throw rotation?
Asked by: NICHOLAS
SLR Magic does not list the focus throw rotation for this lens. Keep in mind that this is a very small lens with a diameter around 40mm, it is not going to have a very large focus throw rotation.

While we are not aware of any specific specs on its lens breathing, as a more affordable cinema lens option you should expect there to be some breathing with this lens.

Is it weather sealed?
Asked by: Jim
I dont think so. Its not a well put together lens overall. Had to replace mine twice due to the focus ring coming undone. Panasonic 25mm f1.4 is a far superior lens for both photos and video.
