Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Laptop, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

ASUS S510UQ-BH71 reviews

15.6" VivoBook S15 S510UQ Notebook is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit bigger than I thought it was At first glance this computer may seem a bit big and heavy but it's not. I installed 8G of RAM as it came with not enough for me. I will be using this machine to edit some RAW files while on the road and need all the available RAM possible. Also, I replaced the 1 Terabyte hard drive for 1 Terabyte SSD just to have a faster scratch disk for PS CC but with the same capacity as new. Amazing to note how fast this thing is ready to go once I press the power button! it's even faster than my desktop with more power! Exchanging the HDD for an SSD is not complicated, just remember that there are two hidden screws under the two back rubber feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything one needs After doing weeks of research for a new home general use laptop, I settled with this Asus model. The included options I was looking for are all included. The 3rd party reviews were all overall positive. I can live with a smaller 3cell battery. The bonus was a coupon discount offered by B&H. It was by far the cheapest price anywhere on the web. After getting unit and doing the simple basic setup, and updates, it is everything and more one could need, although I did upgrade the RAM by 8GB to 16GB by 3rd party supplier. B&H took care of everything very professionally. In fact, the B&H tech said he just bought this exact model himself. Overall a great buy, no regrets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only Ultrabook with 8th Gen i7, 32GB RAM, under 4# I had been looking for an Ultrabook with the latest Intel 8th Gen i7 and expandable memory to 32GB, but weighing less than 4#, and this was one of only 3 notebooks I could find that fit the bill as of 4/8/2018. The others had significantly smaller screens (13") versus this one's 15". I love that it has dual drives, the memory upgrade was quick and easy and picked up immediately on reboot. With technology were it is today, you could actually load this puppy up with 4TB of storage, 32GB of RAM, the latest quad-core mobile Intel i7, all weighing less than 4#. Nice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skreedle Haus Productions APPROVED!!! I upgraded the RAM straight away to 16gb and dumped the bloat software that is unnecessary. I run Adobe Creative Cloud for film and multimedia production along with multiple video platforms simultaneously without any issues. I've read some people's "opinions" that were negative, but that's probably user error. Fast and extremely efficient for Video Editing among other things needed for production of quality film and photo. For the price you really can't do better in my experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised I use Lightroom and Photoshop intensively with this computer. Nice graphics processor. Screen color calibration, with no hassle. Good performance. Works as advertised. Worthy of top selling item rating by B&H. Only thing I do not like is that there is no Ethernet RJ45 plug in it. But with super thin body, I can see why. No room for it. Still investigating if RJ45 can be done via hub with new USB C interface. Authoritative answer not yet forthcoming.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for photo editing I brought this notebook, because it is under the BH expert Pick for photo editing. But they didn't check the spec. carefully. This notebook is only 45% NTSC. It is not recommended for photography.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First PC in 20 Years, so far so good I purchased this computer to run some software that was Windows-only. I had little interest in using this for much else, since I'm a long-time Mac user. So far so good with this ASUS. Pros: --Great image quality on matte screen --Excellent keyboard, friendly for a mac user --Lightweight, but feels solid (not Mac solid, but very good for a plastic computer --Windows 10 is better then I expected Cons: --Very quiet speakers, located on the bottom --Trackpad is mediocre. Lots of mistracking when fingers get sweaty --Tons of bloatware pre-installed. Almost HALF of the 128GB SSD was full when it arrived. Being a Windows amateur, I'm annoyed that I'm gonna have to learn the process of reformatting this thing on my own to slim it down. --No thunderbolt 3 support on the USB-C jack (I knew this going in, but still a bummer). Overall, it feels like a good value, and I'm happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine for the Price#2 I was asked for my review, but already submitted one. Apparently, they do not track these things. So, once again here is my review. I am using this for light work, web browsing, email, light gaming, and other various things. As others have said, battery goes down significantly during system updates. Now that that is done, I am getting about five hours when using it. That is not too bad given its rather superb performance and I would seldom need to use this machine more than this on battery alone. I am also impressed with the design. It has the newest Intel processor, a separate NVIDIA video card as well as Intel Integrated graphics, it is very thin, and very lightweight. You can also select which graphics engine to use by choosing an appropriate setting in the NVIDIA app. If you do not like bloatware, do not install the so-called ASUS Gifts. They are bloatware and, for the most part, are not free. I have upgraded to Windows 10 Pro and will install a larger 256 GB SSD and an additional 8 GB of memory this weekend. That should help me zip through everything. A final comment on this: you can probably stick with the 128 GB SSD that comes with the machine if you change the location of My Documents, photos, music and video to the larger 1 TB hard drive. In addition, install all new programs to this drive as well.
