GoPro AGIMB-004 Overview

  • 1Description

The GoPro Karma Grip allows you to capture smooth, sweeping footage with select HERO cameras. It includes a harness for the HERO7 Black, HERO6 Black, and HERO5 Black, and is compatible with the HERO4 Black and Silver via an optional HERO4 harness.

Combining the 3-axis motorized gimbal stabilizer found in the Karma drone with a handgrip, the Karma Grip actively isolates the HERO camera from vibrations that occur while walking, running, or even standing still. Accessory compatibility means you can also stabilize vehicle- or body-mounted shots as well. Simply clip your camera in and you're ready to roll. Simple camera controls are available on the handle itself.

Since the Karma Grip is a modular design, the gimbal can be removed for mounting on other Karma products like the Karma Drone.

Versatile Mounting Options
Compatible with most GoPro mounts, the Karma Grip can capture the same perspectives the HERO cameras are famous for, but now with added stabilization.
Karma Drone Compatible
If you want to take to the skies, the stabilizer section detaches from the grip and can be attached to the Karma Drone.
Built-In Camera Control
Simple built-in camera controls let you power on and off, change modes, start and stop recording, or add HiLight Tags on the fly.
Easy Charging and Footage Offload
You can charge your GoPro and Karma Grip at the same time while offloading your footage, all without unmounting your camera.
Battery Life
Karma Grip's built-in battery powers both the grip and your GoPro for up to one hour and 45 minutes on a full charge.

GoPro AGIMB-004 Reviews

Karma Grip is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Huge Improvement!! No matter how still I hold my GoPro, the footage always ends up wobbly.? The Karma Grip makes a HUGE difference!! It takes a little time getting used to it but now that I have, it's very easy to use.? I read a lot of reviews on many different stabilizers & found that one big complaint is the noise of the motors.? The Karma Grip operates silently. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it's a tight fit when attaching the GoPro & I feel like if I'm not super careful I could accidentally break the frame.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid gimbal Most reviews that are 1-star complain about either product failures or the audio. Addressing the product failures - I've had my gimbal for upwards of a year and a half, and have experienced zero problems/failures, and I don't exactly baby it. So it's a pretty rugged piece of kit, especially with how delicate some other gimbals are. Addressing the audio, yeah, it muffles the mic. If you're relying solely on your GoPro audio, this probably isn't the gimbal for you. But if you're recording audio on another device externally, I really think this is the best gimbal for the Hero6 (can't speak for the 7!). The biggest flaw, in my opinion, is the lack of a removable battery and the absurdly long charge time. If you have this gimbal you basically need the GoPro supercharger, as it cuts the charge time from 10+ hours to less than 2. I'd also recommend purchasing a second handle to use as a second battery.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Died after one month.. Exactly one month to the day of purchase, my Karma Grip is no longer able to control my GoPro 6. The gimbal functions seem to all work, but the ability to turn the camera on/off, start recording or change any of the settings are gone. Reading the GoPro support forums, this appears to be a common issue. I reached out to support who were quick to diagnose it as a harness issue and are sending me a replacement, however judging from the comments on the support forum, that may or not not solve the issue. While I'm thankful that GoPro Support was quick to help me, I'm less than thankful for this overall experience and frankly I wish I went with one of the cheaper gimbal options at this point that offer more advanced features as this one is VERY basic, especially for $300.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No external mic input makes this a waste of your $$$$ The ONLY thing this gimbal does well is stabilize the camera. There is NO way to hook up an external mic! Audio from the camera while hooked to the gimbal is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!

THoughts on if I should get this with the Hero 7?
Asked by: David
This is a fantastic option for the GoPro Hero 7 Black. It will work very well with that camera and is a great gimbal overall.

question

Does the grip operate while plug'd in ? In other words, can I use this for longer then 1.75h ?
Asked by: Anonymous
The grip has its own battery and actually charges the GoPro camera while in use... I've used the Karma Grip with a GoPro Hero 6 and a 64GB SD card for almost 4 hours of continues use. The GoPro Hero 6 still had a full charged battery when I was done. I've never used it while plugged in, but never found the need. Hope this helps!
