APC AP9630 Reviews

UPS Network Management Card 2 is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Installation Quick and problem free This product works flawlessly. I installed it with the smart UPS on. Be sure to use an anti static strap while installing-take this seriously! I installed the utility program included with the network card to search and find the IP address on the network. Once found I logged in using the default user id and password listed in the manual. I configured the unit to my needs and that was it. If for some reason you cannot discover the IP address you can go to the configuration screen on your smart UPS and find the IP address that way. From your browser enter the IP address with this format http://xx.x.x.xx (note do not use https) you won't find the webpage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Requirement for multiple systems I use the NMC to monitor the status of utility power from multiple Windows systems. I could monitor the UPS with my Synology NAS but the NMC offers a more direct approach in line with non-Linux users. The NMC is reachable from all systems and each can be configured to respond to the current status of utility power/UPS status. All of the desirable information is available to any client of the NMC and you can program each system's individual response. Setup is a snap, with a minimal learning curve. Application response to mouse movement and clicking is a little flaky but can be tolerated with a little discipline. Be sure to update the card with its latest firmware (execute the update from the download from APC).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Network Management Card It's hard to fall in love with the network management card for a UPS - not a very sexy product. One thing I can say about these, though, is that they work exactly as advertised and last forever. My best tip: Get the MAC address off the sticker before installing the card (because you can't always read it from the enclosed test results printout). Then create a DHCP reservation for the card before connecting it to the network. This will save you figuring out or running the utility to determine the unit's IP address. I had to update the firmware to match that of another UPS for redundancy purposes. Although the firmware takes a little while to update itself, the process itself is easy to do from your workstation - don't hesitate if you have a reason for updating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More People should USE THIS CARD! I see way too many people that seem to neglect to configure this card for an appropriate level of email or SNMP notification. Too many messages quickly becomes annoying, but to NOT configure this card for extreme or important events, like battery failures or over temperature warnings, is regretful. These NMCs can be your best friend, when allowed to do the jobs they were designed to do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent NMC This card replaced an older (circa 2005) NMC that was unable to send notifications via email due to ISP requirements to authenticate the account's username and password before sending email. This card has nicely filled the notification void and offers quite a bit of additional data and control that was not embedded in the previous NNC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This card is worthy of its cost. I have this card installed in many locations, some 100s of miles apart. The status notifications have show several sites that over voltage was being received and flagged repairs that were needed. This has more than paid for the purchase and install costs. We are installing these cards at all locations. I recommend you do too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Network power protected, up and running Work as expected. Just follow the instructions and you will be OK. Plugged into my APC Slot 2 type UPS and set all my systems to shut down on a power outage via the network, that way I can use 2 systems on one UPS without communicating with the UPS it connected to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great Needed this for it's additional feature-set. Works as intended with no issues.
