NAMM 2019: We Warmly Welcome the WA-84 to our Fulfillment Center

Warm Audio has been on the scene for a while, putting out replications of lauded vintage gear that far surpass its budget-minded prices. Famous compressors, channel strips, equalizers, and microphones have been warmly embraced by the company, and now, at NAMM 2019, a new microphone has been announced: the WA-84.

Warm Audio WA-84 Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphone
Warm Audio WA-84

This microphone takes its inspiration from the classic 84 small-diaphragm FET mic, often favored for acoustic guitars and drums. The capsule employed has been manufactured to vintage specifications, but Warm has stirred the pot by selecting a CineMag USA transformer, Wima capacitors, and a Fairchild FET. As such, the mic provides a distinctly warm, large sound that belies its small appearance.

With a -10-dB pad, you’ll be able to get relatively close to all sorts of loud sound sources. As with the original design, this small diaphragm condenser makes use of 48V phantom power; no futzing around with external power boxes and needless cable heaps while wiring up this delectable mic.

Put this cardioid microphone on a variety of sources, and you’ll be impressed with you hear. You’ll be doubly impressed if you purchase the matched-pair set, which will give you what you need to mic pianos, drums, and guitars in stereo. With an included shockmount, a mic clip, a windscreen, and a carrying case, you’ll have most of what you need to get started working with this gorgeous reproduction of a much beloved classic. Pick up a mic (or a pair of mics) in black or nickel finishes, whatever tickles your fancy.
