Built to rival desktop computers, this thin and light system measures just 0.7 inches thick and weighs about 4.9 pounds. It is equipped with a 13th Generation 2.6 GHz Intel® Core™ i9 Evo™ design 13905H 14-Core processor, 32GB of onboard LPDDR5x-6400 memory, a 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD, and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060 graphics.

Incredible Visuals

Arguably, the Slim Pro 9i’s most prominent feature is its gorgeous 16" 3.2K (3200 x 2000) resolution, 165 Hz mini-LED touchscreen. Supporting Dolby Vision and spectacular contrast, the DisplayHDR 1000-certified display is calibrated for Delta ≤1 accuracy and delivers stunning visuals with 100% coverage of the DCI-P3, Adobe RGB, and sRGB color spaces. Everything, from streaming videos to viewing photos, looks fantastic and the individual LED pixels turn off to provide true blacks. Although there is some reflection from the fingerprint-resistant glass, the peak 1200 nits brightness when viewing HDR content compensate for it by making the screen clearly visible in direct sunlight. A built-in sensor adjusts the screen’s brightness to match your ambient lighting.

Additionally, the high resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio provide a large workspace for applications such as Adobe Photoshop, with less zooming required and tools easily accessible. The only way the screen could be more perfect would be if it supported a precise active stylus for detailed editing, especially since the display can lie flat, flush alongside the rest of the system for easy content sharing and viewing when in small spaces. However, only passive capacitive pens are supported.

Complementing the screen is an impressive Dolby Atmos six-speaker audio system. Comprising four tweeters and two subwoofers, the audio system brings immersive sound to music, movies, and games. Upward-firing speakers and Smart Amplifier provide consistent quality and volume, regardless of whether I had the computer on a desk, couch cushion, or my lap.

Enhanced Workflow

Built to the Intel® Evo™ design specifications and featuring a high-performance Intel® Core™ i9 processor, 32GB of memory, and 1TB SSD, the Slim Pro 9i certainly doesn’t disappoint when it comes to working with demanding applications. With six Performance cores that drive applications while the eight Efficiency cores handle background tasks, the CPU delivered fast loading and smooth multitasking. I didn’t experience any noticeable slowdowns, even when I had several programs open at once while I flipped through a dozen open web-browsing tabs. At the same time, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060 with Studio drivers made short work of video rendering tasks in Adobe Premiere Pro.

With up to Wi-Fi 6E support, I was able to transfer 6.54GB of video clips wirelessly, directly from my phone in about 15 minutes using Intel®’s Unison app. The convenient SD card reader also allowed me to copy over photos and footage taken from my camera quickly. Connecting my external drive through the 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt™ 4 port gave me quick access to my music and other large files.

Organizing my footage was a breeze, thanks to the responsive touchscreen and extra-large touchpad, but the latter does need some getting used to. Running your finger along the left and right sides of the touchpad lets you quickly adjust the computer’s volume and screen brightness. However, these quick actions were often activated accidentally. For instance, dragging and dropping files would often cause the volume indicator to pop up. It didn’t interrupt my workflow, but it can be a bit distracting at times.

Performance-wise, I was able to render an 11-minute 1080p video in about four and a half minutes. In a separate test, rendering a 1-hour 4K video using a mix of phone, camera, and captured footage took about 30 minutes, making the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i an easy choice for editing videos while on location.

Clear Communications

Despite the thin-bezel design, there’s room for a 5MP webcam at the top of the display. It automatically detects when I’m in front of the laptop and uses facial recognition to log me in quickly. It also does an excellent job of adapting to dimly lit rooms and harsh backlighting while on video calls.

The 4-mic array picked up my voice clearly while I leaned back in my chair. Like the video optimization, the included software can also filter out background noise from the café where I sat. However, my voice became increasingly robotic sounding, depending on the complexity of the noise. For instance, the sound of a drill from nearby construction was enough to overwhelm its capabilities.

Conclusion

With everything taken together, the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i Laptop is the ideal travel companion and a must-have for content creators. It can take on practically any project while maintaining its slim, light design. So, whether you’re editing, video conferencing, playing games, or watching movies, the computer excels at doing it all.
