Announcing NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070: Little Brother to the 1080

2Share

Following the release of the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, the 1070 has arrived with custom revisions in tow. While it may be the little brother to the 1080, it’s definitely not to be underestimated. Based on the Pascal architecture, which is optimized for performance per watt, the 1070 is able to match and even outperform the nVIDIA GeForce 980 Ti, a highly prized card of the previous Maxwell generation, at roughly half the price. However, unlike the 1080 that’s built with GDDR5X memory, the 1070 is constructed using the standard GDDR5 memory commonly found in current-generation graphics cards.

The 1070’s powerful design packs 1920 CUDA cores and can run at clock speeds of more than 1500 MHz while consuming only 150 watts of power. New asynchronous compute advances further improve efficiency and gaming performance, while GPU Boost 3.0 technology adds advanced over-clocking functionality. Furthermore, since the 1070 is designed for VR gaming, it is nVIDIA GeForce VR Ready and encompasses VR Works technology for an enhanced VR experience. Like the 1080, it supports 2-way SLI using a compatible SLI bridge, which is not backwards compatible with previous-generation cards.

The nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition Graphics Card is available for purchase from MSI, EVGA, ASUS, and ZOTAC.
