CES 2018: Dual-Band Velop Mesh Networking and WRT Gaming Router Designed for Xbox One

Linksys expands its Velop Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi Line and announces the new Wrt Gaming Router, designed specifically for the Xbox One, at CES 2018.

Linksys Velop Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi Dual-Band Offering

Building on the widely popular Velop Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi Line, Linksys is introducing the Dual-Band modular Wi-Fi system (available in 1-pack, 2-pack, and 3-pack options) which stands about two inches shorter than the Velop Tri-Band solution making it easy to place virtually anywhere you need Wi-Fi connectivity. Each node supports dual-band AC 2x2 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi, complete with MU-MIMO supporting data-transfer rates of up to 1300 Mbps. The dual-band Velop nodes are also interoperable with the tri-band nodes allowing for limitless possibilities when it comes to ensuring your home is blanketed in seamless Wi-Fi. Setup is simple using the Linksys app and, with built-in Spot Finder technology, you know exactly where to place each node for optimal coverage. Once configured, the Velop Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System automatically monitors for new updates to keep your network secure.

Reduce peak ping by up to 65% on Xbox One consoles with the WRT Gaming Router Designed for Xbox One devices. In addition to reducing ping, this router also prioritizes and accelerates all Xbox gaming packets on the network and helps to protect gamers from extreme lag spikes, all made possible through the Killer Prioritization Engine (KPE). This Killer Prioritization Engine also auto-detects any Xbox-One, including Xbox One S and Xbox One X on the network, so there is no configuration required to begin gaming at top speed.

The WRT Gaming Router Designed for Xbox One features AC3200 MU-MIMO technology while supporting the 802.11a/g/n/ac Wi-Fi network standards. Gamers can connect to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, along with support for simultaneous dual-band connectivity. Five built-in Gigabit Ethernet ports offer enhanced wired network connectivity, while the USB 3.0 port and eSATA/USB 2.0 port make it easy to connect USB peripherals to your network. Inside this behemoth of a router is a 1.8 GHz dual-core processor along with 512MB DDR3 RAM and 256MB flash memory for optimal network performance all the time.
