MSI has announced a treasure trove of new laptops aimed at gamers and creators of every stripe and skill level. More than 10 new laptops were mentioned in MSI’s formal announcement, including models featuring the latest 11th Gen Intel® Core™ processors and NVIDIA’s hard-to-find GeForce RTX 3080 GPU.
MSI vs. M1
Despite its well-earned reputation for building some of the best gaming rigs on the planet, the spotlight of the MSI announcement was more heavily focused on its content creator series. The new lineup includes the Creator Z17, Creator Z16, and Creator M16 laptops—the most premium of which seem not so subtly targeted at MacBook Pro users and potential buyers.
The laptop that will likely draw the most attention from the high-end market (as well as direct comparisons to the MacBook Pro) is the Creator Z16. Featuring a 120Hz 16:10 touch display with QHD+ screen graphics, 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU, and 32GB of RAM, it’s hard to imagine the Z16 couldn’t stand toe-to-toe with the best content-creator machines on the market.
MSI also updated its Creator Z17 laptop, which made a big impression when it debuted at CES 2020 as the world’s first laptop with a Mini LED display. The updated Creator Z17 retains that same vibrant and insanely bright display, but it can now be configured with the newest chips and more powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU.
According to MSI, the Creator M16 is intended for the “more casual creator.” The Creator M16 is a slimmed-down version of the Z16. Like the Z16, the M16 features a QHD+ display, but its max configuration tops out at an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and a Core™ i7. The Creator M16 is definitely not as powerful as the Z16 or Z17 (nor is it as costly), but it has more than enough juice to handle the workload of most nonprofessional creators. Plus, that svelte build and slimmed-down waistline make it much easier to carry around—a nice bonus for creators on the go.
Game On
As you would expect from MSI, several new and updated gaming rigs were also announced. Among those upgraded were MSI’s top-tier GE76/66 Raider series, which were already in the “best gaming laptop ever” conversation. The upgrade gives users new, more powerful spec options, including an 11th Gen Intel® processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics, and displays up to 360Hz or QHD 240Hz.

Updated models of the GL Pulse, GS Stealth, Crosshair, and GP Leopard series were also announced, each with new spec options and available configurations. Among those upgraded are two B&H exclusives: the 17.3" Crosshair 17 Laptop and the 15.6" GS66 Stealth Laptop.

MSI also unveiled the all-new Sword and Katana GF series. Both models of laptop feature objectively stunning designs inspired by renowned Japanese illustrator Tsuyoshi Nagano (of “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” fame). Both these rigs are aimed at closer-to-entry-level status gamers who still want a machine capable of handling the most demanding games.
You can many of these new laptops, as well as several other great models from MSI, right now at B&H.
