Want to enjoy Google’s ecosystem but don’t want to be on your phone or tablet? Then consider the HP Chromebox G2. This compact desktop computer can serve as your main system or as an HTPC, with optional VESA mounting, putting your SmartTV to better use than for just watching Hulu and Netflix. It’s available in multiple configurations, ranging from a Celeron processor to a Core i7, 4GB to 16GB of RAM, and up to 64GB of storage. At its base configuration, the Chromebox G2 is well suited for conquering everyday tasks and simple entertainment, thanks to Google Chrome app support and access to thousands of apps on the Chrome web app store. It goes without saying that users who are planning on tackling more processing-intensive tasks should go for the Core i7 model.

As with all Chrome-related devices, you’ll also get 100GB of Google Drive Cloud storage, since space is usually limited. Aside from its video-out port(s), it’s also equipped with Gigabit Ethernet LAN, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity, a USB Type-C port, an SD media card reader, and mic/headphone jacks. Setup is easy, as well. Once it’s out of the box, connect its power cable, pair it with a TV or monitor (or both) via HDMI or DisplayPort (only on select models), and then log in using your Google account. If you’re already sporting a Chromebook, the HP Chromebox G2 is a good pairing for a more stationary computing solution.
