Connections are important and, yet, we don’t always have enough of them to perform essential computing tasks. If you have a typical desktop, you’re probably blessed with at least four USB ports. Working from a laptop, you might just have between two and four USB ports. Essential peripherals—just like a printer and external storage drive for backups—connect via USB and take up most or all the ports on a laptop. For a desktop, you have more ports; however, you now have a USB keyboard and mouse requiring available USB ports. Aside from these devices, smartphones, tablets, cameras, thumb drives, and headsets also crave access to these same types of ports. When more connectivity is required, Xcellon’s powered USB hubs are just what you need to connect your devices by granting up to ten additional USB connections over what your system would offer.
The Xcellon USB hubs utilize a single USB 3.0 port to deliver access to four, seven, or ten USB ports, which support up to 5 Gb/s speeds. Each of the hubs is made from heat-dissipating aluminum and armed with an LED light beside each port. The hubs feature a flat design and come with rubber threads to help them stay upright during the process of unplugging and plugging-in cables. In addition to creating a data link, each hub has ports that perform double duty by recharging battery-powered devices—without requiring the device’s original wall charger.
The 4-port hub has a single powered USB port, while the 7-port version has two powered USB ports. The 10-port model comes armed with three. These hubs have a toggle power switch and receive energy from an included dual-voltage AC adapter, so they don’t take any power from a computer. Another notable feature is the ability to automatically turn on when the host system is powered-on or restarted, saving you the trouble of flipping another switch. Additionally, Xcellon includes a 3.3' USB 3.0 cable to help you start using the hub, along with the rest of your gear, right away.
