HDSLRs shoot great video, but as video cameras, their body shape is not optimal for shooting smooth, steady footage. When shooting video, you often want to press your eye to the viewfinder to see that your shot is in focus and to have better control over the camera's movement, but with HDSLRs, smooshing your face up to the tiny viewfinder can be uncomfortable and can make getting smooth, fluid video difficult.
By adding an external LCD viewfinder, you can hold the camera right up to your eye in a way that feels more natural for shooting video with an SLR-shaped camera. In bright sunlight, even the best LCD view screen is as washed-out looking as the cheapest point and shoot—and incredibly difficult to see. LCDs are just not compatible with bright sunlight. Hoods, viewfinders and similar aids help you see the LCD clearly by blocking extraneous light and shading the LCD screen.
Okay. Let's say you've just purchased the Canon 7D HDSLR, a great little 18-megapixel camera with a 100% viewfinder. And you want to use its video-recording option. Great. You even bought the Cavision LCD viewfinder set so you could hold your eye comfortably to the camera when shooting…
...but the LCD doesn’t line up properly. The viewfinder was designed for the Canon 5D, which has a slightly different body. Well, not to worry. Now you can attach the LCD viewfinder with ease, thanks to the Canon 7d Spacer plate. The plate is designed specifically so that the Cavision LCD viewfinder will line up perfectly with the LCD screen on the back of the 7D.
Now you will be able to compose and focus your video in bright daylight without being hampered by the limitations of a bare LCD screen, or the shape of your DSLR body, and the Cavision 7D spacer will attach the Cavision LCD Viewfinder perfectly to your Canon 7D.
