Kodak Easy Share M590

As popular as social networking sites such as Facebook, Flickr, Youtube, Kodak Gallery and Orkut are, there are probably many people who would love to share their photos and videos on these sites but are intimidated by the apparent complexity of uploading to them. Now, the Kodak Easy Share M590 makes uploading easy.

The Kodak Easy Share M590 is a sleek 14-megapixel digital point-and-shoot camera with a 5X optical zoom Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon lens and a 1/2.3" CCD image sensor. The zoom lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 35–175 mm and the camera also features 5X advanced digital zoom. The camera’s 2.7-inch indoor/outdoor color LCD has a resolution of 230,000 pixels and it brings image details to life. Optical image stabilization eliminates camera shake to maintain sharpness in all shooting conditions.

Kodak's Smart Capture feature automatically determines the proper camera settings for any situation, while intelligent image processing reduces noise and brightens up dark shadows. A face-detection function automatically identifies faces and adjusts the camera settings for proper exposure. A Face Recognition function will recognize up to five pre-tagged faces in a single image, or up to 20 pre-tagged faces overall, so you can easily locate and share them later on. The name tags will carry over to your favorite photo-management software for easy searching. A panorama mode will stitch three photos together to create a single ultra wide-angle image.

The Kodak Easy Share M590 boasts sensitivity up to 6400 ISO, or up to 3200 ISO at full resolution. The camera can set everything automatically, or you can manually select various scene and color modes, if you prefer.

No point and shoot would be complete without the ability to capture video. The Easy Share M590 can record HD-quality video with audio in resolutions of 1280 x 720 at 30 frames per second (fps) or 640 x 480 at 30 fps. It will capture video clips up to 29 minutes in length.

The Kodak Easy Share M590 really shines when it comes to sharing. All you have to do is take some pictures or shoot some video, press the camera’s Share button, and tag the pictures and video to Facebook, Flickr, Youtube, Kodak Gallery, Orkut or an e-mail address. The pictures and video will automatically be uploaded to the tagged sites and to your computer.

The Easy Share M590 features 64MB of internal memory so you can start shooting right away without having to buy a memory card. A Micro SD/SDHC card slot lets you increase the capacity to your heart’s content. A powerful Lithium-Ion battery allows for in-camera charging. The camera features an A/V output that’s NTSC or PAL selectable, along with a USB 2.0 port.

The Easy Share M590’s body measures 3.8 x 2.3 x 0.6 inches in size and it weighs about 4.5 ounces—small enough to slip right into your shirt pocket. The camera is available in blue, purple, red and silver for $199.95.
