The creative process actually started on a whim -- I had recently purchased a Canon 5D Mark 3 and 50mm 1.2L lens at the time and wanted to go test out the camera and lens. I decided to go out on a cold February during sunrise in the middle of this field I found - maybe not the smartest idea. I was seeing how well the lens and camera combination worked to catch the golden hour light. After a few shots, I got a little bit more creative, went to take a few self portraits via tripod and timer. I decided to do a few surrounding images of the field so I could composite the images later. When editing, I wanted to play around with the edit a bit more. The colors sort of naturally came out with this golden hue and to play off the idea of the 'day break / sunrise' I created this. I'm still not sure if I wanted to express the idea that this person was shattering or coming together - I leave that up to the viewer.
