I shot this photo of these two Amish Children on a cold gray day, walking down a gravel road in Southern Kentucky. At that moment, in my "mind's eye," I thought how poor and lonely they looked, carrying a rusted garbage can full of holes, and a cardboard box.
The "before photo" is the way that most people would perceive the scene.
In reality, as with most Amish kids I'm acquainted with, I'm sure they were happy and carefree, as their house or "paradise" was just over the hill. The "after photo" reflects what they probably see in their "mind's eye."
