During a trip to Namibia this year we spent one day going to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. My wife wished to climb "Dune 45" along the way inside the Namib-Naukluft Park, so we stopped our car and parked in the lot. I noticed this tree with the bird and the early mist still hugging the red dunes beyond. The two trees more or less formed a leading line to the dune with the mist. I remember that it was unexpectedly cold. The reason I submitted this picture of this dormant or dead tree is because most pictures taken are of the red dunes and/or the dead trees of Deadvlei. The red colors of the environment are spectacular, especially with the early morning sun and mist. As far as I can tell, the bird is a Pied Crow (Corvus albus).
