I shot this image on a Trip to Iceland in July of 2016. I wasn't expecting to get horses in the frame but they started coming up a hill after grazing in the early morning. It was a perfect surprise. I shot this on my 5dm2 with the 24-105mm lens with a circular polarizer.
When I imported into my computer I loaded into Adobe Photoshop. I knew I had the detail in the clouds and I pushed the image to a happy medium of detail. In Camera Raw I changed exposure, sharpness, Highlights and contrast to achieve the desired affect. I wanted the image to look surreal. Almost like an oil painting because these horses juxtaposed on that hill with the mountain range almost look like a scene out of Lord of the Rings. In photoshop I created a few selective color layers and treated them in their own spectrum pulling in highlights and color where I lost because it was too brightly exposed.
Overall it was a unplanned shot and the horses move really fast. Iceland is a beautiful country with so many sights to see. Truly spectacular!
