One of my favorite parts of returning home to Vermont after a school year in Connecticut is going out to the fields chasing the Milky Way, alone with my camera. The deep peace and slow pace of the photography (especially compared to the frantic and constant sports photography that I spend my school year shooting) is one of the experiences in life that cannot be put into words. These photos have also been an enormous opportunity for developing my post-processing skills; managing noise and color while also trying to create an image that can even approach the natural beauty of that moment has been one of the most significant challenges of my career in photography. I hope that my work has helped you experience a taste of that still serenity of watching the Milky Way under a Vermont sky at 2 AM with the crickets playing in the background.
