I always keep my camera set on the "sports continuous" setting when we are walking or riding around. That way if I see something interesting and don't have time to adjust the camera setting I am assured of getting some acceptable shots. When we stop and plan a shot I can change the camera to the settings I want. That was how I got multiple shots of the pelican coming in for a landing on an old concrete pier.
