As an avid kayaker, I'm always looking for somewhere unique or interesting to kayak. After hearing about the Mallows Bay Ghost Fleet on the Potomac River, my wife and I decided to make the 14 hour trek from Illinois to Maryland. The area is known to have very rough water, so we had to wait for a day that would allow us to paddle amongst the fleet. As we paddled out, we discovered the outline of the ships. It was not until I launched the drone up that I fully realized the scope of the scene. As fascinating as it was from the water, it was so much more revealing to see it from above. This shipwreck is the largest shipwreck in North America, containing over 200 wood steamships burned down to water level from WWI era.
