A surprisingly heavy and very rare snowfall the night before provided a thick layer of the powder that morning. I awoke around sunrise, and knew immediately that I needed to get the drone in the air, as the cloud formations and crisp winter light to the East were begging to be photographed. Taking off and landing the DJI Inspire was somewhat difficult, as there was nowhere to place the drone where it wouldn't sink into the snow, potentially frying the camera electronics. I ended up hand launching and hand landing the drone - a somewhat risky operation with such a large drone. It all paid off in the end!
