I am the Fire/Rescue Photographer for the local Volunteer Fire Company. It was ten minutes after three in the morning, and because of its remote location, the fire companies were unable to get enough water to the scene in time to save the barn. Having already documented the event I spent a few minutes capturing the mood during the latter stages of the effort. Here, an unknown firefighter stands looking at the smoke and steam rising from the glowing embers after an unsuccessful two hours battle.
