When you shop for gifts for your loved ones this holiday season, you can’t forget the corner-office executives on your holiday list. These weekday warriors toil in their towers day in and day out, chipping away at their piles of paperwork—don’t they also deserve some nice holiday cheer? But what do you get for the executive who has everything? These are gifts for the husband or wife, mom or dad, or any executive who you’re putting on your “nice” list this holiday season.
Consider the Bose SoundDock 10 Bluetooth Digital Music System. It supports Bluetooth music streaming and is compatible with iPods and iPhones, although the auxiliary port will allow connections to almost any media player. The rich sound is thanks to Bose's Waveguide technology. It includes a mini USB port, video output connection and a remote control.
Another great speaker system is the Focal Professional XS Satellite Multimedia Sound System. This system includes two 30W satellite speakers and a 70W subwoofer. It’s made for iPods and has dock and charging capabilities, but it also has a 3.5mm analog input for other devices. You can also use the USB port to connect to an iMac.
You could look into the Onkyo ABX-N300 Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone. This one includes Ethernet/Wi-Fi network compatibility, so you can dock your iPod or stream music from Internet radio stations. It includes two 20W full-range speakers and a 3.5mm analog audio input jack. It’s even compatible with AirPlay.
There's also the Sony XA900 Wireless Speaker Dock. It comes equipped with AirPlay and supports Bluetooth for iPod, iPhone and iPad. The dual passive radiators provide booming bass, and Sony’s original DSP (digital signal processor) outputs clear, rich sound. The total output of 200W (50W on each satellite speaker and 100W on the subwoofer) is more than enough for any corner office.
Also good when considering space issues is the Tivoli PAL BT Portable Radio, in either Glossy Red/White or Glossy White/White. They feature Bluetooth connectivity, FHSS Low Noise interference (narrows the frequency across the spectrum in short "hops" instead of a single signal, thereby intercepting and eliminating interference from other devices on the 2.4 GHz band) and 2.5” full-range long-throw drivers.
The Yamaha Desktop Audio System, in white or black, is another chic sound system. These 30W stereo systems feature dual full-range 3” speakers, a built-in CD player and a full-featured remote control. Although this is also designed with iPods in mind, it features an auxiliary jack and an FM tuner for extended functionality. The TSX-112 Desktop Audio System, also from Yamaha and also available in black or white, features an integrated iPod/iPhone dock, built-in CD player and AM/FM radio and an alarm clock that lets you awaken to music from your iDevice.
If your corner-office executive has been very good this year, think about a gift that will not just impress them—it will blow them out of their Herman Miller chair. Something like the Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital Camera Kit with Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM AF Lens. This camera has everything an exec could want—a 22.3MP Full-Frame CMOS sensor, a 3.2” Clear View High Resolution LCD and the ability to record in Full HD.
Or how about a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1 Full Frame Compact Digital Camera? This one is perfect for taking full frame 24MP photos of all the office parties and trade shows to which your exec is invited. It features a 35mm f/2.0 Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* lens, high-speed autofocus and dedicated focus, iris and macro rings. It can also take Full HD video at either 24 or 60 fps.
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera with 12-50mm Lens features a 16MP 4/3 Live MOS Sensor, M.ZUIKO Digital ED 12-50mm F3.5-6.3 Lens and 3.0" Tilting OLED Monitor, making this camera another great executive-level gift. It’s the first Olympus interchangeable-lens camera to include a high definition (120 fps refresh rate) electronic viewfinder for all the corner office trendsetters out there.
Don’t forget accessories for your camera gift, like a SanDisk 64GB SDXC Memory Card. This Extreme Pro Class 10 UHS-I card is perfect for storing your photos and video, with fast 95 MBps read and 90 MBps write speeds.
How is your executive going to tote around all of this gear all day? Maybe you should consider a Grafea England Leather Camera Bag in caramel or brown? It can hold a DSLR system, including lens and flash, and features a removable padded nylon insert, two internal dividers and dual buckled side pockets. Or perhaps you'd like to give an ONA Bowery shoulder bag in field tan or black. These bags can hold a mirrorless camera and extra lens, and when you detach the removable strap, the whole bag can be used as an insert inside a larger bag.
Most high-level execs need some stress relief, and what better way than to surround them with an envelope of sound. To that end, consider the K 702 Reference-Quality Open-Back Circumaural Headphones by AKG. These open-back, heavy-duty around the ear phones have high-performance neodymium magnets and a genuine leather headband. They employ flat-wire voice coils and a Varimotion two-layer diaphragm as well, and include gold-plated stereo jacks and plugs.
Your favorite executive might enjoy the Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise-Canceling Headphones. Bose uses superior audio technology, like their Tri-Port acoustic structure, to provide full-spectrum sound within each ear cup. They even include an iOS in-line mic/remote.
Grado Labs makes the GR10 In-Ear Stereo Headphones. They have moving-armature drivers, 20-20,000 Hz frequency range and an impedance of 32 ohms. In other words, your ears will be writing their own thank-you notes after they experience these headphones.
But if you really want to impress your corner-office execuitve, how about the Sennheiser HD650 Reference Class Stereo Headphones? These circumaural headphones have features like a nominal 300 ohm impedance, a frequency response of 10–39,500 Hz and a specially developed OFC copper cable, which is Kevlar-reinforced to make it insensitive to handling noise.
If you can never get the executive on your list on the phone, may we suggest a Bluetooth headset from Jawbone. There’s a variety available at B&H, including the ERA and ICON lines. They all feature 10mm wideband speakers, battery indicators and Noise Assassin technology that eliminates most background noise.
Combining portability, power and a stylish form factor for movable computing power, the Sony Vaio Tap 20 All in One computer is another nice gift. Its 1.9 GHz dual core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and 1TB hard drive make it sound pretty fetching. But the tablet-esque handling make this a great present for execs on the move. And it gives great presentations.
While you’re at it, put the ASUS Zenbook UX32VD-DH71 13.3" Ultrabook Computer on the list. It also has a 1.9 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive with a speedy 24GB SSD cache. The 13” display has Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, too, so your corner-office executive can watch movies in their office—not that we're suggesting that’s what they do all day (unless they happen to be Hollywood corner-office execs)!
And, if you are thinking of a laptop as a gift, you should look at some cases, too. Something like the Incase Pathway Field Bag, which can fit a 13” laptop and has a slip pocket for an iPad or other tablet. Or the Incase Pathway Shoulder Bag, with room for up to a 15” laptop, fold-over top with magnetic leather tab and metal feet for bottom protection.
