For those in need of an inexpensive, easy-to-use flatbed scanner for copying documents and flat artwork, Canon offers you two choices, and both are priced well under $100 with enough change left over for a nice dinner and a movie.
The simpler of the two is the Canon CanoScan LiDE110, a USB-enabled flatbed scanner that features four EZ Buttons that all but automate the scanning process by enabling you to copy documents and create e-mail attachments and/or PDF files quickly and easily.
An Auto Scan Mode allows you to crop, size and copy a document with the touch of a button and hard-to-read documents can be enhanced using the Auto Document Fix feature. For copying pages in a book or thicker multi-page documents, the LiDE110's Advanced Z-Lid extends up and over the platen to allow for clearer copies.
Other features include Auto Scratch and Dust Reduction, Fading Correction, Grain Correction, Gutter Shadow Correction, High-Speed Scanning and a single power/data cable.
As for the numbers, the Canon CanoScan LiDE110's Contact Image Sensor (CIS) enables 2400 x 4800 maximum dpi color resolution (19,200 x 19,200 interpolated) from a 3-color (RGB) light source, with 48-bit internal /24-bit external color and 16-bit internal/8-bit external in black and white.
If real estate is an issue , the Canon CanoScan LiDE210 , which contains all of the features found in the Canon CanoScan LiDE110, also features 3-way positioning and can be tilted to an upright position in order to take up less precious desk space—and still perfom all scanning functions.
