CES 2014: Samsung Reveals the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2" Tablet

Samsung has been pushing large screen sizes on their smartphones, so it's only natural that they'll apply the same concept to their tablets. Samsung introduced the Galaxy NotePRO at CES 2014, which features a 12.2" capacitive touchscreen with 2560 x 1600 native resolution. The screen has 247 pixels per inch, for a total of about 4 million pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio. The Galaxy NotePRO also comes with an S-Pen, which provides all of the functionality of previous Note tablets.

The Galaxy NotePRO features Magazine UX, which allows you to create your own magazine-inspired home screen. Showcase recent photos from your gallery, check important newsfeeds, and designate your most used apps in one convenient place. Magazine UX is a unique change from Samsung's usual TouchWiz Android screen and provides customizable options for a streamlined user interface.

The Galaxy NotePRO also takes full advantage of the large 12.2" screen with its Multi-Window feature. Instead of having just two windows open, you can have as many as four. You can also add additional pop-up windows on top of that for even more multitasking options. You can also access the menu by swiping from the right bezel to pull up a list of compatible apps. You can tap on them to make them float on the screen as a pop-up window, but if you want to use them in the four-window configuration, you'll have to drag and drop them onto the screen.

The Galaxy NotePRO will feature a quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor for the LTE version and the same octa-core Exynos processor found in the Note 10.1" for the Wi-Fi/3G version. You'll also have a choice of having either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, with the ability to expand to 64GB via the microSD slot. The Galaxy NotePRO will run the latest Android KitKat 4.4 operating system. The Galaxy NotePRO also has 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS, and IrLED connectivity. It has a 9,500mAh battery to power the larger screen, and there's also an 8MP rear camera with LED flash, and a 2MP front camera.

While the Samsung Galaxy NotePRO may not be as portable as its smaller-screen counterparts, it makes up for it with its large screen and high-resolution visuals. If you're looking for a tablet you can actually do some work on, the Galaxy NotePRO could be for you.
