NEC projectors are back in the spotlight, with the NP-P525UL and the NP-P525WL. Both models use a laser light source to achieve up to 5200-lumen center brightness, augmented by a dynamic contrast ratio of up to 500,000:1, making them well suited for use in moderately bright classrooms and conference rooms. Laser light sources are known for longevity, compared to traditional lamp light sources; in this case, NEC rates them at lasting up to 20,000 hours at medium brightness, so only minimal maintenance is necessary.
The NP-P525UL has a native resolution of WUXGA (1920 x 1200), while the NP-P525WL has a native resolution of WXGA (1280 x 800)—both of which are suitable for viewing documents—but both can accept input resolutions up to 4K UHD (3840 x 2160). They each use a 3-chip MLA (Micro Lens Array) LCD system to provide enhanced color saturation, with the capability of producing more than1.07 billion colors.
These projectors have 1.6x optical zoom and a 1.23 to 2:1 throw ratio, allowing you to achieve images ranging from 25" at a 2.6' distance from the screen up to a 300" image from 44.3' from the screen. Horizontal and vertical lens shift and 30-degree horizontal and vertical keystone correction let you place the projector off-center from your screen, in case there are obstructions you need to avoid, while achieving a properly squared-off image.
Equipped with HDBaseT, VGA, and two HDMI inputs, you can connect nearly any new or legacy A/V source. You can even display JPEG files stored on a USB drive without a computer. The projectors can be controlled via RS-232 with Crestron RoomView software, or with the Virtual Remote feature, which works over VGA with compatible computers. Connect the projectors to your LAN via Ethernet, or transmit from your computer wirelessly with the optional NP05LM1 adapter. You can send the audio through to an external sound system with the 1/8" output, or just use the built-in 20W speaker.
