Godox Launches Updated V1Pro Flash and SU-1 Sub-Flash

The Godox V1Pro flash, an update to one of the most popular flashes around, has just announced. It features the same round head that made the original so popular, along with some notable performance and structural updates.

The most striking update with the V1Pro is the inclusion of the SU-1 Sub-Flash, which attaches to the front of the V1Pro and serves as an auxiliary fill flight to the main 76Ws output of the round head. The SU-1’s output is adjustable from 1/1 to 1/128, with +/- 3 EV adjustment, and is a great option for portraiture sessions where a second, separate fill light can be useful for balancing the lighting on your subject.

The other key updates for the V1Pro are related to power, most specifically the inclusion of a new VB30 rechargeable lithium-ion battery that now supports up to 100 consecutive full-power flashes in a single burst before shutting down due to overheating protection. This is a big jump from the 40 consecutive flashes of the original V1 and is a feature that will greatly benefit those using the flash to photograph action and moving subjects.

The V1Pro also gains a new external power port, making it compatible with the PB960 PROPAC lithium-ion battery for faster recycle times and more flashes per charge. Lastly, the VB30 also features a new configuration that incorporates a USB-C charging port right on the battery, saving you from carrying an additional charger while traveling.

Beyond these updates, the V1Pro and original V1 share most of the flash output and control specs, including the 76Ws power, 330° head rotation with -7 - + 120° tilt, and High-Speed Sync support at up to 1/8000-second. The flash also has a built-in 2.4 GHz receiver that works with Godox’s X wireless radio system for triggering via separate triggers, like the XPro TTL. And the flash is available for various TTL systems, including Canon, FUJIFILM, Nikon, Olympus, and Panasonic, and Sony.

Other components are carried over from the original, too, such as an integrated 2W LED modeling light, a rear LCD for checking settings, a 2.5mm sync port for wired triggering, and compatibility with the AK-R1 Accessory Kit for modifying the light output.
