Fitbit Upgrades with the Versa 2 Smartwatch: Amazon Alexa and Spotify Enabled

Fitbit has upgraded its very well received Versa smartwatch with the Versa 2 and Versa 2 Special Edition. This sequel improves on the original in a few significant ways, by adding something no Fitbit smartwatch has ever had: a microphone. It works in conjunction with Amazon Alexa to provide a host of voice-controlled capabilities. The special edition version of the Versa 2 shares this and all of the features of the Versa 2, but adds a second watch band. With the inclusion of a jacquard woven band, you get style options right out of the box.

The Fitbit Versa 2 smartwatch’s inclusion of a microphone and support for the Amazon Alexa digital assistant opens up a plethora of uses and capabilities. Give your Versa 2 voice commands to have Alexa answer questions, check the weather before your next run, set timers, alarms, reminders, and more.

Another new Versa 2 addition is the Always-On Display Mode. Acting like a traditional watch, this mode always keeps the display active, allowing you at-a-glance stats while working out, or the ability to check the time or a notification when your hands are full. The display itself is yet another upgrade, swapping out the LCD display of the Versa for a brilliant OLED display. With OLED, you get deep blacks and extremely vibrant colors that are easy to read.

At its core, the Fitbit Versa 2 remains a solid health and fitness smartwatch, offering 4+ days of battery life, built-in 24/7 heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and workout tracking with 15+ exercise modes that include running, biking, and weights. See real-time stats on the new display, get post-workout summaries, and record your progress to monitor over time.

The Fitbit Versa 2 supports and tracks many aspects of your health. The built-in heart-rate monitor keeps tabs of your calorie burn, resting heart rate trends, and general cardio fitness. It can even detect elevated heart rates and trigger guided breathing sessions throughout the day, helping you stay calm and stress-free. Sleep tracking lets you know how long you spend in light, deep, and REM stages at night, and gives you an overall Sleep Score to help easily monitor your ongoing sleep quality. There’s even a helpful Female Health feature for women, which lets you log your cycle, record symptoms, and compare yours to other health stats.

The Versa 2 is also capable of playing music to help keep you motivated when working out. A new feature for the Versa 2 is its ability to control your Spotify app, download Pandora stations, and add Deezer playlists. These streaming platforms open access to a wide range of unique and diverse audio content. As with the Versa, the Versa 2 also has built-in storage for up to 300+ songs.

Other useful and practical features of the Versa 2 smartwatch includes notifications from a variety of apps when your Bluetooth-compatible smartphone is within range. You can also use the Versa 2 to make purchases at a large variety of stores and shops with Fitbit Pay. Simply add up to six credit and debit cards, and use the Versa 2’s NFC technology to pay for items wherever contactless payments are accepted.

With the Versa 2, Fitbit continues to innovate and expand what is possible in the smartwatch category. Adding voice control of Amazon Alexa, Spotify and Pandora streaming, and an always-on display, Fitbit gives you the technology and motivation to help you lead your best life.
