Introducing the Motorola One Action Smartphone with the Industry’s First Ultra-Wide Action Cam

The Motorola One Action Smartphone is the cure for “Vertical Video Syndrome.” With the release of the One Action, Motorola created a smartphone that takes proper landscape videos, regardless of how you hold the phone. This feature uses the industry’s first ultra-wide action camera, sporting a 117-degree FOV for capturing 4x more of the scene than the 78-degree main camera. The Motorola One Action has a total of three rear cameras, a selfie cam, and a host of manual and AI camera modes with which to play. If you’re plagued by mediocre mobile photography, the Motorola One Action is the antidote to your creative limitations.

In addition to the dedicated 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide video camera, the One Action provides a 12MP f/1.8 wide camera, 5MP depth sensor, and 12MP f/2.0 selfie camera. The depth sensor allows the smartphone to provide professional quality bokeh effects in Portrait Mode where the background is blurred and the foreground subject of your selfies and portraits pop.

Speaking of portraits, Portrait Mode is part of a host of manual and AI camera modes. Other manual modes include Cinemagraph, which blurs the boundaries of photo and video by keeping a portion of the image in motion, while the rest remains frozen. There’s also Spot Color, giving you a black-and-white image with just one color highlighted for dramatic effect. AI features incorporate a handful of options that take the technical guesswork away, acting like a built-in photography assistant.

AI camera features can take on a passive or active role in your mobile photography. A passive feature like Smart Composition takes a second photo it thinks you might want based on the scene, and Shot Optimization suggests adjustments to optimize the final photo. More active features like Auto Smile Capture snap photos (front and rear) only when everyone is smiling, and Portrait Lighting automatically adjusts settings, so your subject is properly lit.

Video and Google Lens support round out the One Action’s impressive camera capabilities. The rear cameras can capture video at up to a stunning 4K resolution, along with selfie videos at up to 1080p. Both enjoy support for HDR processing to boost detail and contrast automatically. And then there’s Google Lens. Google Lens uses the cameras to search the Internet for what it sees. Look up information, about a landmark, shop for an item that caught your eye, and much more.

All of the media you can capture is only matched by the media you can enjoy on the One Action’s large 6.3" CinemaVision full HD+ display. It’s an ultra-wide display with an immersive 21:9 aspect ratio. An optimal size for movies, streaming TV, or plain old multitasking. As big as your experience can be, the physical size of the One Action smartphone remains slim enough for one-handed operation.

Such a convenience is only amplified by the power of Google Assistant, which lets you access myriad functions with just the sound of your voice. Simply speak “OK, Google” to activate and interact with the built-in digital assistant. Have it create reminders, answer questions, make a phone call, send a text, and much, much more.

Powering all this technology is the Android 9.0 Pie OS, a Samsung Exynos 9609 processor with a 2.2 GHz octa-core CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a Mali G72 MP3 GPU for dynamic mobile gaming. A 3500mAh battery provides up to 11 hours of movies, 47 hours of music, or 6.5 days of standby power. Storage is plentiful, with 128GB built in for your photos, videos, and apps. This can be expanded via an optional microSD (up to 1TB), and it’s all securely protected with a fingerprint reader and facial recognition.

If your smartphone is the lens that records your precious memories, and the window to hours of cinematic fun, then the Motorola One Action should be on the short list of models to consider. The unlocked 4G LTE Motorola One Action comes in two colorways, the dark and rich Denim Blue, and the bright and vibrant Pearl White. Both are available today at B&H.
