Hard on the heels of Apple's 2nd-generation Airpods, Beats by Dre announced its first-ever true wireless headphones: the Powerbeats Pro. Long lauded as one of the most popular fitness earbuds in the world, this new iteration of Powerbeats looks to build upon that reputation by removing the sometimes pesky, sometimes distracting cable that connects the left and right buds.
Each wireless bud fits on your ear using adjustable ear hooks that are as comfortable as they are secure. To stave off any fussing, each earbud has matching on-device controls, so you can tap either the left or right bud to adjust volume and playback. Not only is that super convenient, but it also means you can listen to music with just one earbud if you so desire. Don't worry about starting or stopping your music, either. The Powerbeats Pro feature built-in sensors that automatically detect when you've put the earphones in or taken them out, and pauses or plays music accordingly.
In addition to its true wireless design, the Powerbeats Pro boasts up to nine hours of continuous playback—that's nearly double what the Airpods give you, and significantly better than almost every other true wireless headset in the field. They're sweat and water resistant, so add that to the list of fitness-friendly bona fides. And they support "Hey, Siri" functionality, so you can use voice commands to control your music or get answers from your iOS device.
The Powerbeats Pro are available in four truly gorgeous colors: Black, Ivory, Moss, and Navy. Each comes with a wired charging case that gives you up to 24 hours of additional juice and four pairs of eartips in different size options. They are available now at B&H.
Is the new true wireless design enough to make you trade in your wired pair of Powerbeats for the new Powerbeats Pro? Make it known in the Comments section.
