New Kodak Playfull Fears No Water

Big feature-filled video cameras with fancy lenses are great, especially for professionals who need to capture broadcast-quality video. But let’s face it: most of us don’t want to carry around anything that’s too big or heavy, especially if you’re the active, sporting type. For people that don’t want to lug around a big, heavy camcorder, but do want to capture sharp, vivid HD video, Kodak has announced the Playfull Waterproof Video Camera, a cell-phone-sized camcorder that captures 720p HD video and 1MP still images. Oh—and it’s also waterproof to 10 feet.

Being waterproof, the Kodak Playfull Waterproof Video Camera is the ideal unit for boaters, surfers, water skiers, snorkelers, fishermen and anyone else who spends time, and wants to capture their activities, near water. The camcorder is also dust proof and shock proof from five feet up, so you don’t have to worry about the camcorder slipping out of your wet hands. All you have to do is pop the tiny camcorder in your pocket or purse and you’ll have it with you should a capture-worthy moment arise.

The Kodak Playfull Waterproof Video Camera features a CMOS image sensor, a 31mm lens and 2X digital zoom. It can capture 1280 x 720p or 848 x 480p video at 30 fps. Capture effects for still and video include Normal Color, Sepia, B&W, High Saturation and 70s film. Captured content is stored in the camcorder’s 18MB of internal memory, and you can expand that with an SD/SDHC slot that accepts cards up to 32GB in capacity.

A two-inch, anti-glare display lets you review captured content. You can also share content simultaneously on multiple social networks or by email with the camcorder’s built-in USB arm. HDMI and AV outputs let you enjoy content on larger displays. The Kodak Playfull Waterproof Video Camera is available in Black, Red and White.
