If you currently own a Leica S2 and have been hankering for a wide-angle lens with an angle of view of 84°, Leica has answered your prayers.
The newly announced Leica 30mm f/2.8 Elmarit-S ASPH enables you to capture imagery with the depth and drama of a 24mm (35mm equivalent) lens, using your Leica S2.
The new lens is the fifth optic in Leica’s S-series lineup, and a welcome addition for Leica S2 owners who’ve felt cramped in the wide-angle department. With 13 elements arranged in nine groups, this aspheric-surfaced, weatherproof, wide-angle lens can focus down to about 18" (0.5m) for a close repro ratio of 1:11; it features an 82mm filter thread size, measures approximately 5.04" (without the hood, 6.14" with the hood), and weighs approximately 37.39 ounces (1060 g).
As for the delivery date, Leica is mum on that, so sit tight for now.
