New Leica D-LUX 5 Titanium Limited Edition

Leica has announced the Leica D-LUX 5 Titanium, a limited edition version of its popular (and rather suave-looking) pocket camera. Clad in titanium over an anodized aluminum chassis, this sporty little number comes with a dedicated calf leather case.

Like the standard (and also rather suave-looking) Leica D-LUX 5, the limited edition titanium version features a fast (f/2.0 – 3.3) Leica DC Vario-Summicron 24-90mm equivalent zoom lens with macro focusing down to 3/8" (1cm), a 10.1MP (1/1.63") CCD imaging sensor, an intuitive combination of analog and digital controls for a full range of automatic and manual exposure and focus control, a “hot” accessory shoe, and a 3.0-inch (460,000-dot) LCD. A rear click wheel allows you to quickly set the parameters of distance, shutter speeds and aperture in similar fashion to the way you’d set the controls on MP3 players and smartphones.

The Leica D-LUX 5 Titanium can capture RAW and JPEG stills in a choice of 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 1:1 aspect ratios, in burst rates of up to 2.5 frames per second, and video clips are recorded at 1280 x 720 @ 60i (AVCHD Lite) or 1280 x 720 @ 30 fps (MPEG-4). Along with a wide maximum aperture, the Leica D-LUX 5 Titanium also boasts ISO sensitivity levels up to 3200, making it a natural for capturing sharp low-light imagery, and in keeping with Leica’s imaging philosophy, the resulting stills and video are rendered in a neutral, natural color space.

Along with a dedicated calfskin case, the limited edition Leica D-LUX 5 Titanium comes with a lens cap, a battery and charger, a strap, AV/USB cables, a CD containing a PDF manual, a copy of Adobe Lightroom 3 and a two-year warranty.
