Olympus has announced a new Micro Four Thirds wide-to-telephoto zoom lens. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 EZ, which has the equivalent zoom range of a 24-100mm zoom on a full-frame 35mm camera, contains 10 elements in 9 groups including a DSA lens, dual aspheric lenses, an HR lens and an ED lens to better ensure optimal performance at all focal lengths.
Available in a choice of black or silver, Olympus’s newest Micro Four Thirds zoom features an Olympus movie and still compatible high-speed Imager AF system (MSC) and an all new linear motor drive system for quicker and quieter operation. Other notable features include splash- and dust-proof construction, a 5-blade circular aperture diaphragm, a close focusing distance of 7.87" in macro mode (0.72x maximum image magnification) and a 52mm filter thread.
