New from Samsung: Galaxy Tablet and Accessories

One of the more vital challengers to Apple’s iPad is the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and now the tablet is available from B&H, along with a cluster of Tab-specific accessories.

The version offered by B&H features a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) screen and 16 gigabytes of internal memory. The model is Wi-Fi only and uses the Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) operating system (OS).

The Galaxy Tab contains two cameras: a front 2.0 Megapixel and a rear 3.0 MP autofocus with flash.

For wireless communication, the Tab uses dual band (2.4- and 5 GHz) 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR connectivity.

With a gray back and black bezel, the Galaxy Tab is 10.1 x 6.9 x 0.34 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 1 lb 3.9 oz.  It comes with a USB adapter for connecting the Tab to your computer. Accessories include the:

Samsung Desktop Dock for 10" Galaxy Tab, which contains a 30-pin connector and 3.5mm audio line out.

Galaxy Pouch for 10.1" tablet, a protective leather case in black that doubles as a viewing stand.

Samsung Pouch for Galaxy Tab P4 10.1" Wi-Fi Only, a leather carrying case.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 Adapter (USB) for turning the Tab’s 30-pin connector into a USB port suitable for connecting such USB devices as a flash drive, camera cable or printer. This would be a way, for example, to transfer digital photos and other files directly to the Tab.

Galaxy Tab Travel Adapter, which enables quick charging of the Tab through its 30-pin connector from a power outlet.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a player that is about half the size of the Galaxy Tab yet sporting a multi-touch screen larger than an iPod touch, consider the Samsung 8GB Galaxy 5.0" Player. Running the Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS, the 6.42-oz player has 8GB of storage capacity and a MicroSD card slot supporting up to 32GB of memory expansion. Atop the 5-inch (800 x 480) display is a front-facing VGA camera; on the other side is a rear-facing 3.2 MP flash camera. Beyond its 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, the player contains an FM radio and Bluetooth 3.0 technology. There’s an embedded microphone, integrated stereo speaker and GPS capabilities. The tab's lithium-polymer battery provides up to 8 hours of video playback and 60 hours of audio playback, according to Samsung.
