Samsung NX200 Mirrorless Digital Camera

Samsung has announced a third-generation NX-series compact mirrorless camera, the Samsung NX200. Similar in size, shape and flat-top profile to its sleek and ergonomically designed predecessor, the Samsung MX100, the new NX200’s biggest draw might very well be its 20.1MP, APS-C format CMOS imaging sensor, which places NX200 in the sparsely populated category of consumer digital cameras packing 20-plus megapixel imaging sensors.

In addition to a new 18–55mm OIS II kit zoom (the NX100 came with a 20–50mm kit zoom) and 1080p @ 30 frame-per-second video capture with stereo sound (up from 720p in the NX100), other upgraded features on the Samsung NX200 include a 3.0-inch, 614,000-dot AMOLED screen; a graphically engaging Smart Panel user interface; seven frame-per-second burst rates (up from three frames per second in the NX100); 3D and in-camera panorama imaging; ISO rating up to 12,000 (up from an expanded ISO 6400 in the NX100); Supersonic Dust Reduction; an OSD manual focusing aid; and AF response times as short as 100 milliseconds. The new camera is also lighter and smaller than its predecessor.

The Samsung NX200, in black only, is compatible with a growing family of NX-mount optics, and will be available toward the end of September.

It is without doubt a very interesting piece of photographic equipment, combining a compact and light body with resolution on a pair with the big ones.

But, how about its focusing system? speed? precision?
