The Vanguard brand is well known to photographers and outdoor recreationists for its camera bags, tripods, binoculars, spotting scopes, and riflescopes. Now, the company has launched its Pioneer line of packs and bags, designed specifically for hunters. The Pioneer backpack, sling pack, shoulder bag, and waist pack are made of soft, quiet, water-repellent high-count tricot fabric in Realtree Xtra camo, and come equipped with bright orange rain covers to keep you and your gear dry in wet weather, and can be used to signal Search and Rescue personnel in a worst-case-scenario.
Leading the lineup is the Pioneer backpack, available in 34-liter, 26-liter and 16-liter sizes. There’s also a 16-liter Bow Hunting Sling Pack that can be worn over either shoulder. All come with Vanguard’s Butterfly Attachment carrying system, which lets you carry a rifle, shotgun or bow safely and securely. The butt of the gun or bow goes in a stowable pouch, and flaps on the pack buckle across the weapon to keep it in place while trekking to and from your hunting grounds.
The packs feature lots of handy pockets, including a watertight compartment for personal items and storage on the waist belt; the 2100RT and 1600RT offer detachable waist belt pouches big enough to hold binoculars, rangefinders, etc., and offer two aluminum staves on the back to provide stability and hold the pack away from the body for ventilation. All the packs have sleeves for hydration bladders and elastic straps on the harnesses to keep a drinking tube handy.
The 900RT shoulder bag is optimized for waterfowling, with integrated straps to carry birds. It has plenty of storage space, side pockets for water bottles, a large padded shoulder strap and a grab handle. The 6-liter Pioneer 400RT waist pack has room for essentials and water bottles, underside straps for a tripod or raingear, and a detachable hand warmer that has its own neck strap and can be used as a stand-alone item.
Vanguard has taken hunters’ needs into account in the design of the Pioneer line. These packs and bags will make your time in the field more comfortable, enjoyable and productive.
