If you are the type of filmmaker who winds up in unpredictable locations and needs something more powerful than an on-camera light, but doesn’t have the time to run stingers all over the set, then the Bescor LED-200KB
Kit might be just what you are seeking.
The LED-200 is a portable, dimmable light panel that consists of 210 small LED lights, laid out in a 12 x 11-inch grid. When used with the included soft white diffuser, the 210 LEDs blend together to make one relatively large and even light surface. This large surface area emits much softer light than a typical open-faced or Fresnel tungsten lamp, without expensive and time consuming light modifiers, such as softboxes. This characteristic makes the LED-200 light perfect for situations such as interviews for which soft light is preferred. Just remember that diffused light has a much faster fall-off rate than hard light.
LED technology also draws much less power than traditional light sources. The LED-200 gives off about as much light as a 200 watt tungsten light, but does so while only consuming 15 watts of power. If the 2200 Lux (at a distance of 1m) the LED-200 emits is too hot, you can always dim the light, as the LED-200 can be dimmed down to 15% to ensure perfect exposure. In addition to saving money on your electric bill, these power-sipping lights are also able to run on battery power with a DC power adapter. HP-3ATM batteries will keep the LED-200 lights running for more than two hours—at full power. The LED-200 lights 
also runs cool, thanks to the LED technology, which means you can place them close to talent without worrying about them being uncomfortably hot. Unlike tungsten sources, you don’t have to wait for them to cool before packing them up.
As is typical of LED lights in this price range, the LED-200 lights run at a very cool 6500K. Most cameras can easily accommodate this by having their white balance adjusted, but if you plan on mixing with other light sources, remember to keep some CTO filters handy. CTO filters will cut the light level down a little bit, but much less than the amount of light that is lost when applying CTB filters to tungsten balanced light sources.
The LED-200 light is available in a number of kits. The LED-200KB Kit comes with two LED-200 lights, two soft-white diffusers, two light stands, two batteries with AC chargers, two DC power adapters and two AC adapters. The LED-200SB Kit has just one of each of those items in the LED-200KB Kit. If you don’t currently have any need for battery power you can go with the more streamlined LED-200K Kit, which includes two LED-200 lights, two soft-white diffusers, two light stands and two AC adapters. The LED-200S Kit has just one LED-200 light, soft white diffuser, light stand and AC adapter. Whichever configuration you choose, though, you can be assured that you’ll be better prepared for whatever a day of shooting throws at you, with this affordable and flexible LED light.
