The Bokeh Masters Kit contains 21 pre-cut circular templates that enable you to add unique and playful shapes to the out-of-focus highlights in your photographs, especially when used with point light sources such as street lights, spot lights and candles. These templates mount on the front of your lens using a template holder, which is included with each kit. In a pinch, the templates can also be attached to a UV filter.
Designed for use with lenses that have filter threads of 62mm or smaller and apertures of f/2.8 and wider (f/2, f/1.8, f1.4), these templates have cutout shapes with animal, star, sports, smiley faces and other themes. Additionally, there are eight blank templates that you can cut into custom shapes to fit your particular needs.
Depending on the focal length of your lens, your working aperture (the wider, the better), and the distance of your subject from your lens, all sorts of interesting visual effects can be achieved without post-capture imaging software.
According to the manufacturer, the Bokeh Masters Kit works well with the following lenses, and with few exceptions, should work equally well with similar lenses from other manufacturers.
Nikon - 50mm/1.8, 50mm/1.4, 85mm/1.8, 28-105mm/3.5-4.5, 70-300mm/4.5-5.6
Canon - EF 50mm/1.8, EF 50mm/1.4, EF85mm/1.8, EF100mm/2.8L IS USM, EF 75-300mm/4-5.6
Sigma - 30mm/1.4 (with vignetting)
